Chapter 33 World Line Shift
Chapter 33 World Line Shift
Oswald bought some bread and sausages, and the two squatted on the ground to eat them.
Dick, who was standing to the side, realized that he was being ignored. He couldn't leave the house because he was wearing a hospital gown, and he couldn't sleep even when he was back in bed. He could only stand barefoot on the ground and awkwardly watch the two of them eat.
Gollum~
His stomach growled at an inopportune moment. He lifted the cold soles of his feet and rubbed the backs of his feet, gesturing with his hands in the air. After much hesitation, he finally spoke:
"Can...can I eat something?"
"You know you were wrong?" Qin Wei took a bite of bread, tore open a can of liquor, took a big gulp, and coldly glanced at the other person.
"You're right, it wasn't you who killed my family, I should go find Baron..."
At this point, Dick's eyes dimmed, his head was lowered, his fists were clenched tightly, and his taut body trembled as if a javelin had been driven into the ground from the top of his head.
A piece of bread was handed to him.
"Here! Eat up. Your clothes are in that metal cabinet in the corner. After you finish eating, you can do whatever you want," Qin Wei said.
Dick jerked his head up as if electrocuted and grabbed the bread with all his might.
He opened the cabinet, and upon seeing the blood-stained trapeze suit, he suddenly turned to look at Qin Wei:
"Am I really going to kill him for revenge? Aren't you going to stop me?"
When he heard those words, Qin Wei clearly felt the surrounding space tremble. At the same time, the entire world seemed to have fallen into the empty center of the universe, and all sounds around him fell silent.
The sounds of breathing, the ticking of the heart monitor, and the faint snoring outside in the corridor all disappeared.
Dick was speaking with his mouth open, but Qin Wei couldn't hear anything.
"Wei, what's wrong? You look terrible!"
As if pulled from a nightmare, he was awakened by Oswald's urgent call. He blinked in confusion, only to find that his surroundings had already returned to normal.
This was the first time Qin Wei had encountered such a situation. After a brief moment of panic, he bit his nails and fell into deep thought.
What did Dick mean by that—you're not going to stop me?
This statement didn't sound like it was directed at him, but rather at Bruce Wayne.
If things had gone according to the script, Bruce Wayne would have given Dick a big hug and told him with heartache: "Revenge will only make you lose your way. I don't want my story to repeat itself in your life."
Thinking of this, Qin Wei raised his head and stared straight at Dick.
He roughly understood the origin of that strange feeling he had just experienced.
He has done many things since he traveled through time, but none of them have affected the main plot.
Dr. Hugo attacks the casino, Catwoman seeks revenge on Falcone, and amidst the conflict between two mob bosses, the Penguin quietly rises to power. Even without his involvement, these stories would still unfold.
But this time is different. Dick Grayson stands at a crossroads, one leading to Robin, the other to the unknown. At this moment, Qin Wei has taken Batman's place, and his words will influence and even change Dick's life, potentially triggering a butterfly effect that could rewrite the predetermined fate of this universe.
You're not going to stop me?
This sentence reflects Dick's confused state of mind, and it is also a warning from the world to Qin Wei—don't rewrite the plot!
"That's interesting!"
Qin Wei finished his beer, and the can gradually deformed under the pressure of his palm.
For the first time since his transmigration, he has come into contact with the truth of the world, and his method is to try to rewrite the life trajectory of a major character.
This is a risky move; the pieces placed may trigger unforeseen consequences. Will the universe collapse or space itself tear apart? This is truly a high price to pay.
But Qin Wei didn't want to become a slave to the plot. If things went according to his plan, he would face this situation sooner or later.
Let's do it now.
Qin Wei took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and looked directly into Dick's eyes:
"When the law fails to deliver justice, private revenge becomes legitimate and noble from that moment on. Do you understand what I mean?"
Dick nodded heavily, the confusion in his eyes fading, replaced by a burning desire for revenge.
He changed his clothes, jogged out the door, leaving behind a somber-faced Qin Wei and a bewildered Oswald.
"What is he going to do?"
"Let's seek revenge on Barron."
"Insane! With such a severe injury, aren't they afraid the stitches will rupture and they'll bleed to death on the way?"
"That's not something we need to worry about," Qin Wei replied indifferently.
"So you spent all that money to save him not to win him over?"
"We should try to win him over, but we need to see what he's capable of first..." Qin Wei said, then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head.
It felt as if an invisible icicle pierced his temple, slowly pushing open his skull and churning his brain. In an instant, excruciating pain gripped his throat, and he curled up in agony, clutching his hair.
"Oh, hahaha! That's it! Let's quickly turn this damn world line upside down! That way we can meet soon, and I can't wait to see your cute face!"
A familiar voice slowly crept into my mind, its sharp, hoarse tone concealing undisguised madness.
It appeared like this on his very first day in Gotham, thoughtfully introducing him to the entire background story of Gotham. Qin Wei initially thought it was a system notification, but it seems things are not as simple as he thought.
As the excruciating pain subsided, Qin Wei wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and got up, a purple figure involuntarily appearing in his mind.
That voice was so distinctive that it was hard not to associate it with the Joker.
But the question is, how did the Joker get into his mind? And another chilling point is that the other party said he would turn this world line upside down.
Why is it "world line" instead of "world"?
With too few clues and too many suspicious points, Qin Wei felt his brain was struggling to keep up.
Let's focus on the present first.
"Are you alright? You've been acting strange since the beginning." Oswald helped Qin Wei up. "You haven't slept all night. Why don't we go back to sleep?"
Qin Wei took the key to the Dodge Estate out of his pocket.
"We still have important things to do. Maroni gave me this thing, want to come take a look with me?"
Upon hearing this, Oswald swallowed hard, tears welling in his eyes.
"Really?"
He reached out his hands to touch the key, but then withdrew them in a panic, as if a wax figure had touched the blazing morning sun.
He feared it was a dream, a dream that could burn him.
He will always remember the words he heard when his father severed ties with him and kicked him out of the house more than ten years ago.
"Oswald! You're nothing but a lowly rat from the sewers, unworthy to inherit the Copport family name. Go find a dark corner and cower in wait to die!"
For many years afterward, he struggled to survive in the cracks and shadows of Gotham's Lower District, stealing fruit from vendors, rummaging through the pockets of wealthy businessmen, being surrounded and beaten to the point of near death by rival gangs in an alley because of a minor grudge, and even killing unarmed and pitiful people because of a small favor from his employer.
He had been sick, injured, and even lay dying by a sewer, but he gritted his teeth and persevered through it all.
For no other reason than to prove one thing to that man—Oswald is not a rat, and one day his name will resound throughout Gotham.
"Can I really go?" He rubbed his eyes, pleading with an almost humble look.
"It's not a matter of whether we can go or not; this manor originally belonged to us."
Qin Wei solemnly placed the key into Oswald's palm.
"Now, Your Majesty, let us go and inspect the territory!"
