Chapter 503 Deserved Punishment
Getting from Hogwarts to the Ministry of Magic wasn't too difficult. Apparently because of Sirius Black, the Ministry of Magic had set up a small outpost not far from the Hogwarts gates.
This little house has a fireplace specially designed to connect Hogwarts with the Ministry of Magic, which is wonderful.
After all, Loila had originally thought she would walk directly from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade—she hadn't traveled far from home for a month—
Hmm—it seems like it wasn't just a month—she didn't seem to travel far much before the third competition.
In short, Loila was still very happy that she could walk less.
However, Mr. Lupin did not seem to think so; he remained quite serious throughout the journey.
It seems Mr. Lupin really dislikes the Ministry of Magic—is it because of recent events?
As expected, the school hospital was too isolated. Loila's understanding of recent events was limited to the fact that the Ministry of Magic seemed to have some conflicts with Dumbledore.
On the question of Voldemort —
"coax!"
With a soft sound, Loila emerged from the fireplace.
This was her first time visiting the British Ministry of Magic—and it had to be said, it looked much more bustling than the German Ministry of Magic.
Countless fireplaces were arranged like tall pillars in the corridor, and from the fireplace where Luo Yi was, the furthest fireplace even stretched to the end of the line of sight.
People kept coming out of these fireplaces, and then others were walking in.
Looking through the fireplace, one sees a spacious hall with a statue placed there, surrounded by towering walls.
These walls appeared to represent the various departments of the Ministry of Magic. Loila could see the glass panels and the corridors within, which were brightly lit like stars in the sky.
In comparison, the German Ministry of Magic seems rather monotonous — though perhaps that's only from the perspective of a prison cell —
"Please follow us, you two." The leading Auror coughed lightly, interrupting Loila's tour, and strode forward.
Loila and Lupin quickly followed.
"Miss Hamilton."
"Professor Hamilton?"
To Loila's surprise, she seemed to be some kind of celebrity. The Aurors on the way seemed to recognize her and kept nodding and greeting her.
"Hmm!" She instinctively hid behind Lupin, a little nervous, to avoid being noticed by too many people.
Although her nervousness when in front of crowds has eased considerably, Loila still does it involuntarily.
"Miss Hamilton is quite famous in the Ministry of Magic," the leading Auror said casually. "After all, you are currently the most outstanding person in magic arrays."
"Ah—I'm not—I'm not that good," Loila whispered as she followed behind the Auror.
You should be a little humble when facing strangers — um.
The Ministry of Magic was not only bustling with people, but also with paper airplanes flying overhead. Loira knew that these were probably the Ministry's means of transmitting information, much like the flying sausages in the German Ministry of Magic.
To be honest, Loila has always been curious whether the German Auror would eat those sausages.
"This is it." The leading Auror spoke softly, interrupting Loila's thoughts. Hearing his words, Loila subconsciously raised her head and looked ahead.
Before them was a slightly closed door with a sign hanging on it, crookedly written: "Temporary Detention Center for Key Prisoners and Special Individuals".
Although this line of text was written very small, it still took four full lines.
"Where is this—" Lupin asked, frowning slightly. "Aren't we going to see Karkaroff?"
"He'll stay here for now," Auror said, knocking lightly on the door before pushing it open.
Loila peeked out curiously and saw a huge glass jar placed at the entrance like a zoo cage. Not only that, but looking further in, there were dozens of other jars arranged in the room.
It looks like some kind of dark wizard's experimental site! No, it's even scarier than a dark wizard's experimental site!
Loila looked at this place, which seemed to appear only in a horror wizard story, and subconsciously pursed her lips.
"Don't be afraid, Miss Hamilton," Auror said with a shrug. "Many newspapers and media outlets believe this is a place where the Ministry of Magic conducts human experiments."
"Actually, this is just a temporary detention center for criminals," he said, pursing his lips. "Most of them are just waiting to be put into Azkaban after their trial."
Hmm—Loila felt she couldn't blame the newspapers and media; to her now, this place looked like some kind of human experimentation site.
"Mr. Andrew." An Auror stepped out and looked at the leading Auror: "What's this?"
He glanced at the other Aurors and paused slightly, then asked, "And you are—"
"Mr. Jack, I've come to check on Mr. Karkaroff," Andrew interrupted him, saying, "Is now a convenient time?"
"You mean Principal Karkaroff?" The Auror named Jack raised an eyebrow. "You're sending him back to Germany?"
"Not yet," Andrew shook his head and said, "Just checking on his condition."
"His classmates are here."
"Huh?" Jack paused, looking at his companion. "Professor Hamilton, is that you?"
"Ah—you—hello." Loila nodded awkwardly.
"I'm a huge fan of yours!" the Auror exclaimed excitedly. "Do you remember me?"
"We went to the Rozier family's estate together once, along with Director Scrinker and Parkinson—"
"Jack," Andrew interrupted him, then said, "Miss Hamilton is here on business."
"Could you please not disturb her?" Andrew said in a low voice, "Or do you want to go to Ireland to manage the goblins?"
"Ah—sorry, sorry!" Jack quickly apologized in a low voice, "I was just a little too excited."
"But please follow me, Professor Hamilton," he said with a smile.
Mr. Andrew is really fierce — Loira felt alright, but she did seem to have some impression of the person in front of her.
However, it was only a small part, after all, there were more than a dozen Aurors following Mr. Scrimgeour at the time—and what impressed her most during that investigation was meeting Ms. Vida—
Jack and his group hadn't gone far when they stopped next to a white jar.
Then he raised his wand and gently tapped the jar, causing the white mist on the jar to slowly disappear.
The white mist dissipated, revealing the people inside.
Seeing that person, Loila's heart clenched instinctively, and she unconsciously gripped her wand tighter.
That was someone she knew all too well. She had watched the light in his eyes disappear, but now—she saw him still alive.
Igor Karkarov was huddled in a corner, his hair disheveled, his eyes filled with fear as he looked around at everything.
