Chapter 1: The Office Building That Transmigrated
Chapter 1: The Office Building That Transmigrated
"Earthquake! Run!"
The sudden shaking of the office building startled and terrified a group of people working inside.
"Chen Hao, why aren't you running?"
Upon seeing Chen Hao still sitting in the same spot, one of his colleagues hurriedly went over to pull him up.
"Our company is on the 21st floor. If there is an earthquake, we won't be able to escape. We might as well stay where we are."
"Besides, this isn't an earthquake zone, so we won't experience any major earthquakes. At most, there will be minor tremors, which wouldn't be enough to collapse this building."
Chen Hao's words sounded like both an explanation to his colleagues and a way of comforting himself.
Just then, the office building stopped shaking.
"See? I was right."
A look of relief appeared on Chen Hao's face.
"Ah, what's that?"
Then, a sharp sound pierced eardrums and echoed throughout the office.
"Liu Qian, what are you yelling about?"
The group of survivors, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly heard this scream and some of them, who had short tempers, immediately started cursing.
"No, look outside."
Liu Qian's voice trembled with a hint of tears.
Everyone then realized something was wrong and quickly looked out the window, where a chorus of gasps filled the air.
"hiss!"
Chen Hao looked out the window through the floor-to-ceiling window.
The next moment, he stood there blankly.
What appeared was a dense forest instead of the bustling, vibrant city center.
The forest stretched as far as the eye could see, and the faint roars of wild beasts could be heard.
"What's going on?"
Chen Hao's mind went blank, with only this question echoing in his mind.
"That's a forest? When did our Su City get such a large forest?"
"Where's the city center? Where did the city center go?"
After the initial shock, everyone became agitated, discussing the matter animatedly.
"Stop arguing, everyone be quiet."
Just then, the company manager stepped forward and shouted.
This was a somewhat overweight man with thinning hair, a stern face, and an imposing aura.
The entire office immediately fell silent.
"Don't panic, everyone check your phones to see if you have a signal."
After being reminded by the manager, everyone quickly took out their phones.
"My cell phone has no signal."
"Mine doesn't have any either."
"Me too."
Chen Hao also took out his phone and saw the signal bars disappear on the screen.
"It seems that we may have encountered an abnormal event."
Despite trying to keep his voice calm, the manager's voice still trembled slightly.
"You mean, we've traveled through time?"
A colleague who enjoys reading novels immediately understood what the manager meant.
"Very likely."
The manager replied with a solemn expression.
"What a joke! My wife just had her second child. If I'm not here, how will she support two kids?"
One colleague broke down.
"Could it be a prank?"
Some colleagues had doubts.
"So, that means I don't have to pay my 30-year mortgage!"
Some colleagues were secretly pleased.
The scene immediately descended into chaos.
This time, the manager couldn't get everyone to be quiet anymore.
"Bang!" Just then, a dull sound rang out.
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a large bird with a wingspan of more than three meters crash into the floor-to-ceiling window of their office.
"What a big bird."
Some were amazed, while others were terrified.
"It won't fly in, will it?"
"Haha, our office has floor-to-ceiling windows made of tempered glass. That's not something this bird can break."
Someone explained with a smile.
"That's good."
Many people breathed a sigh of relief.
However, soon everyone realized something was wrong.
More and more large birds are flying over.
They chattered and spurred at the glass as they made sharp noises.
The sounds of "bang bang bang" were incessant.
The glass trembled continuously. The large bird that crashed into the glass clung to the gap between the panes with its claws, then shook its head, turned, flew back to the flock, and continued its charge.
Some were knocked unconscious and fell to the ground; it's unknown whether they are dead or alive.
"Close the window quickly."
Suddenly someone shouted that several windows were open and a large bird's head was sticking out of one of them.
"Quack quack," the large bird, its eyes red, kept making duck-like quacking noises as it struggled to squeeze into the office.
In just a few seconds, most of his body was almost inside.
"Stop it."
Someone screamed.
But the people closest to that window instinctively stepped back, not daring to go forward at all.
Their faces were pale and their hands and feet were trembling; they were clearly very nervous.
This is normal. As white-collar workers living in the city, where have they ever encountered such a situation? People who don't even dare to kill chickens normally, how could they dare to deal with a bird that is more than ten times the size of a chicken?
Just as the large bird was about to fly in, a figure grabbed a wooden chair, rushed forward, and smashed it hard against the bird's head.
Instantly, the bird's head was smashed to pieces, its body convulsed, and its wings flapped wildly.
This person was Chen Hao.
He regularly works out at the gym and grew up in the countryside where his family slaughtered pigs. In the last two years, when he returned home, he was the one who slaughtered the pigs for the New Year in the village. He is much braver than the average person and is not afraid of blood.
After smashing the bird's head, Chen Hao quickly grabbed its flapping wings and dragged it into the office.
If we don't pull it in, this big bird might fall outside.
"Hey Chen Hao, what are you doing? Why did you bring this bird in here?"
Looking at the large bird that wasn't quite dead yet, with blood splattered everywhere, a woman next to her, covered in blood, pointed at Chen Hao and screamed.
Chen Hao gave her a cold look and snapped, "Shut up."
"Didn't you see we've traveled through time?"
"Without food, how many days do you think we can survive?"
"This is food."
Chen Hao pointed to the large bird that was gradually ceasing to struggle and said.
Upon hearing this, the woman wanted to say something more, but was stopped by the people next to her.
"Chen Hao is right, so stop making a scene."
"Yes, Chen Hao is thinking of all of us. How can you criticize him?"
Soon, a group of people around Chen Hao spoke up for him, which angered the woman so much that she turned her head away and buried her face in her arms on the table, crying.
Seeing this, the others exchanged awkward glances and did not continue to criticize the other party.
Just then, the big bird stopped struggling completely and died.
Suddenly, a voice rang in Chen Hao's mind.
[Congratulations! You have successfully killed a one-star common creature—the Red-capped Forest Stork—and obtained a one-star card.]
"What is it?"
"system?"
Chen Hao, who had read the novel, widened his eyes in surprise.
Then he saw a card appear inside his body.
He instantly realized that this was the one-star card, which he could take out immediately if he wanted to.
However, with so many people around, he had to suppress his impulse.
"Chen Hao, there's another one here, come over quickly."
Suddenly, someone called Chen Hao's name, telling him to kill the Red-crowned Forest Stork.
Chen Hao's eyes lit up, and he quickly replied, "Coming!"
