"Trash! They're all trash!"
"You can't even catch a little girl! All you do is shoot sneak attacks, what use are you?"
He glared angrily at the other pursuers.
"What are you still doing?"
"Go down and search!"
"You want to see people alive, you want to see corpses when you're dead!"
"Most importantly... the 'Drops of God' must be retrieved!"
The men looked at each other in bewilderment.
Looking at the surging waves below, no one dared to jump in easily.
"My lord...the waves are too strong..."
"And there's an undercurrent below..."
The priest's expression grew even more grim.
He stared intently at the dark sea, his fists clenched.
Drops of God...
Just gone?
But right now, there's really nothing else we can do.
"Send men to guard the coastline," he said through gritted teeth. "Report back immediately if any trace is found."
His men, feeling as if they had been granted a pardon, quickly left the cliff.
The priest took one last look at the sea, then turned away in anger.
The waves continued to relentlessly crash against the rocks.
As dawn breaks through the sea, golden light spills across the shimmering surface.
The Cyclone is sailing smoothly in the direction of the record pointer.
Sabo stood at the bow, enjoying the morning sea breeze. Suddenly, he squinted and pointed to his left:
"There seems to be something over there?"
Upon hearing the sound, Kuina looked over and unconsciously placed her hand on the hilt of her knife.
Robin put down his book and walked to the side of the ship.
Liu Jiu remained seated in his usual spot, his gaze calmly sweeping across the sea.
As the ship drew closer, the outline of the "thing" gradually became clearer.
It's a little girl.
She held a huge wine jug tightly in her arms, facing left, and floated on the sea surface using the buoyancy of the jug.
"Is he still alive?" Sabo frowned, his tone filled with worry.
Robin has activated her ability.
Several arms grew out from the ship's side, combining to form a giant arm that gently lifted the little girl and the wine jug, and carried them steadily onto the deck.
The little girl was soaking wet, her face was as pale as paper, and her lips were purple.
There was a noticeable arrow wound on his shoulder. Although it was no longer bleeding, the wound had turned white from being soaked in seawater, and the situation was not optimistic.
She held the wine jug in her arms very tightly, her fingers stiff.
"There is still a faint breath."
Robin immediately stepped forward, knelt down, and examined the girl's injuries.
"Shoulder arrow wound, excessive blood loss, seawater immersion leading to wound infection... requires immediate treatment."
She skillfully opened her medical kit and took out disinfectant and bandages.
Sabo helped the girl up, looking at her pale face and tightly closed eyes, and couldn't help but ask, "How did she end up floating at sea? And holding that wine jug..."
Kuina's gaze fell on the wine jug that the girl was clutching tightly to her chest. Even in her unconscious state, the girl's fingers remained firmly gripping the jug, as if it were something more important than life itself.
“This wine jug…” Robin also noticed its extraordinary nature. “The craftsmanship is exquisite, and the material is special. It’s not an ordinary object.”
Liu Jiu also came over at some point. His gaze lingered on the little girl and the wine jug for a moment, but he didn't say anything. He just watched quietly as Robin received treatment.
Robin carefully cleaned the girl's shoulder wound, applied herbs, and meticulously bandaged it. She then fed the girl some water and a little bit of liquid food.
After finishing all that, she gently tried to pry open the girl's fingers that were tightly gripping the wine jug.
Surprisingly, even while unconscious, the girl possessed astonishing strength, or rather, her obsession was astonishingly deep.
Robin had some effort to take the flask from her arms.
The wine jug feels heavy in your hand. The body is engraved with intricate temple patterns and grapevine designs. The spout is sealed with a special cork, and you can faintly smell a very delicate yet refreshing aroma of wine.
“This fragrance…” Sabo sniffed, “is so peculiar; it’s invigorating.”
"She needs rest. Her injuries and fatigue are severe, and whether she can wake up depends on her will."
Robin put the flask aside, carried the girl into the cabin, changed her into clean clothes, placed her on a soft bed, and covered her with a blanket.
The unconscious little girl, Lilith, still had a furrowed brow in her sleep, murmuring unconsciously:
"Father... the Drops of God..."
Chapter 123 The Story of Kuma, the Shichibukai
The "Whirlwind" did not continue its voyage as an exception.
The anchor sank into the clear seabed, the sails were rolled up, and the ship rose and fell gently with the soft waves.
The pace on the ship has slowed down noticeably in the last couple of days.
Sabo stopped fishing with great enthusiasm and started peeking into the cabin every now and then.
"Is she still not awake?" he asked Robin, who had just come out of the cabin, in a low voice.
Robin shook his head.
"The high fever keeps recurring, and the wound shows signs of infection." A hint of fatigue lingered in her eyes. "I can only provide the most basic treatment."
Kuina sat on the ship's railing, sword in hand, her gaze occasionally sweeping across the sea, but mostly resting with her eyes closed. However, whenever the slightest sound came from inside the cabin, her ears would twitch slightly.
Liu Jiu remained the quietest of them all. Sometimes he would go into the cabin, quietly watch the unconscious girl for a while, his fingers occasionally lingering on her wrist for a moment before silently leaving.
Sometimes, "domineering" is not omnipotent; even he has never seen domineering ability save lives.
As evening fell, the setting sun painted the sea a warm orange hue.
Sabo watched as Robin changed the girl's bandages once again and couldn't help but sigh.
"If only we had a ship's doctor on board."
He leaned against the doorframe, his tone tinged with a rare sense of frustration.
"Robin, you know so much and you're very skilled at bandaging wounds, but you're not a professional doctor after all."
“Although Uncle is…very capable,” he glanced at Liu Jiu, “this kind of meticulous treatment doesn’t seem to be his style.”
"If there were a professional ship's doctor here, this girl would definitely recover faster, and we wouldn't have to be so anxious."
Guina was standing in the cabin at some point, glancing at the girl.
She was concise but agreed with Sabo's idea.
Robin gently wiped Lilith's burning forehead with a damp cloth, then paused upon hearing this.
“On the Grand Line, excellent doctors are a scarce resource,” she said softly. “Moreover, doctors willing to board pirate ships are even rarer.”
"Unless a miracle occurs, and a doctor appears out of nowhere, she... will die!"
Silence fell over the cabin.
Only Lilith's occasional, faint, pained groans and the gentle sound of the sea lapping against the hull could be heard.
Sabo clenched his fist, a sense of powerlessness welling up inside him. This was not something he was good at; he had almost never been sick or suffered such serious injury since childhood.
"No matter what, let's wait for this little girl to get better first."
"Then...when we reach the next island with a hospital, we must find a ship's doctor!"
His gaze swept over the purple cloud at Kuina's waist, the book beside Robin's hand, and finally landed on Liu Jiu's calm profile.
"Our adventure has only just begun, and we will definitely encounter more dangers and injuries in the future."
“Especially when faced with the same situation, we can’t just stand by and watch a vulnerable life disappear for no reason.”
"If... there had been a doctor on board who could save lives, this situation could have been avoided."
As night deepened, the sea breeze carried a chill.
Inside the cabin, Lilith's breathing grew weaker and weaker, her forehead burning hot. The blood on the bandages Robin had removed had darkened, and the signs of the wound worsening were becoming increasingly obvious.
Sabo paced restlessly on the deck, while Kuina leaned against the door, clutching her knife, her eyes grave. Even the usually composed Robin seemed to carry a hint of imperceptible anxiety as she wiped the girl's forehead.
Liu Jiu remained silent in the corner, but for the first time, his gaze was fixed entirely on Lilith, as if he were pondering something.
Even if he had died once in a certain sense!
Just as this oppressive silence was about to reach its peak—
Above the deck, the air currents emitted a very faint hum.
A tall, imposing figure, almost exaggeratedly so, landed silently on the masttop of the "Whirlwind" like a leaf blown by the wind.
He wore a hat with cow-spotted patterns, held a thick book in his arms, and his huge body formed an eerie and dangerous balance with the slender mast beneath his feet.
The moonlight illuminated his expressionless, honest face.
Bartholomew the Bear.
One of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Almost the instant he landed, the air inside the cabin froze.
