Chapter 59 Clark: Am I going to be unpacked too?
Chapter 59 Clark: Am I going to be unpacked too?
2011, April 3.
Gotham City, top floor of Parrels Tower.
Jaeger suddenly opened his eyes and sat up from the desk where he had been lying.
What came into view was a familiar place, a place he had visited before under a different identity.
—Landon Parrels' office.
It seems we've returned to the normal timeline, but are we still temporarily still wearing the [Landon Parrels] identity tag?
Jaeger then summoned the Void Table.
As expected, the card table now displays a map of Gotham City, and the identity card used is that of [Landon Parrels].
But unlike before, the card belonging to [Jaeg Winchester] was placed on the edge of the card table.
It seems that to switch identities, I'll have to swap this card with the identity card currently on the table...
Jaeger also noticed something else.
The [Unknown Identity Card] had somehow moved from the edge of the table to the surface, and now displayed a new line of text:
[Status updated]
Could it be that after the second round of the main cards ended, the thing corresponding to this card, or that mysterious misty space, changed?
Or……
Jaeger's gaze fell on the newly added [Key to the Gate].
Is it related to this item?
But Jaeger didn't investigate it for the time being, intending to think about it later.
"Poisonous fog," Jaeger suddenly spoke in his mind, "Are you there?"
The familiar voice of the poisonous fog appeared instantly: "I've always been here... uh, Langdon, are you experiencing intermittent amnesia again?"
"That's not entirely true." Jaeger immediately relaxed, slumping back in the swivel chair. "I just suddenly forgot what I was doing."
The poisonous fog, surprisingly, exclaimed, "What? It hasn't forgotten who it is this time?"
Jaeger: "...Cough, yes."
Suddenly feeling ashamed, she realized that it was also hard work for Poison Mist to have to face herself from time to time, switching between different identity cards... and so on.
Jaeger suddenly wondered, if he were using the identity card of [Landon Parrels], what would Jaeger Winchester's current state be?
Recalling the time when he hadn't used Langdon's identity card, Batman said that Langdon wasn't in Gotham City at that time...
Could it be that the card table is actually exerting pressure to find a reasonable excuse for the removal of the identity card, making the person corresponding to that identity disappear from the eyes of others?
Just then, the poisonous mist spoke up, answering Jaeger's question: "You were just discussing Pingo with me."
Jaeger: "?"
What is the relationship between the pingo platform and him?
"Looks like you've forgotten something," Poison Mist explained. "Pingo is the social platform software you created four years ago."
What?! I made this?! Jaeger was shocked.
"That's right, you said back then, 'Why hasn't anyone made a similar platform yet? We might as well make one ourselves,'" Poison Mist said.
"..." Jaeger thought for a moment, four years ago, in 2007.
In my memory, Twitter, which has similar functionality, should have appeared as early as 2006... Is there no corresponding platform in this world?
That's why I took action and established Pingo?
Come to think of it, social media is indeed a very important thing, and there are many benefits to having it in your hands, one of which is the power to control public opinion.
not to mention……
Jaeger tapped the table with his finger, then suddenly had a strange idea: "Hmm, right, about the poison mist, if Pingo is our product... then I'd like to check an account."
Poison Mist didn't comment on Jaeger's suspected box attack, since he believed that Jaeger must have his reasons for doing so.
"Which account do you want to check? I have a portion of the fog deployment working over there right now."
"Account name bat, account ID is..." Jaeger repeated from memory, while silently repenting in his heart—I'm sorry Batman, but I really wanted to try to find out.
The results from the toxic fog investigation were as Jaeger had predicted: "Strange, this account is from an unknown IP... How did he bypass our IP detection system?"
"Then forget it." Jaeger shook his head. "It was just an experiment to begin with."
Sure enough, finding out Batman's true identity is not an easy task.
However, Batman wasn't the only person Jaeger wanted to investigate.
"Poison Mist." Jaeger rested his chin on his hand, his gaze fixed on the computer screen in front of him. "This time, it's not about checking the Pingo account; help me find someone on the internet."
"That man's name is—Clark Kent."

Meanwhile, on the other side of Gotham City.
"Achoo!"
In the quiet and spacious bat cave, even the slightest movement can be amplified, startling a group of bats roosting above.
Bruce sat at his computer, phone in hand, listening expressionlessly to a slightly mocking female voice on the other end: "Hmm? Got a cold?"
"No." Bruce frowned. "Getting back to the point, what do you mean by saying 'Jaeg Winchester' is a non-existent person?"
"Oh, please, Bruce." The person on the other end of the phone sounded a little annoyed. "You promised, but you've never written to me. Now that you need to know about the wizarding world, you suddenly remember me?"
"...Sorry," Bruce said dryly, "I'm just a little busy, Zana."
"Don't use that nickname," Zatana said, "unless I actually received your letter, Mr. Busyman."
"I will," Bruce said instinctively, then tapped the table and looked away. "But it will probably take a few days."
"..." Zatana sighed. "Never mind, you're always like this—back to the person you asked me to ask, he really does not exist in a sense."
To put it simply, you can understand it this way: in the magical world, it is actually very difficult for someone to hide their existence.
"If you are a born mage, you will inevitably have the blood of a god, a demon, or other similar being."
If you are not, then the spells you inherited, the magical items you received, the objects from which you draw power, etc., must also exist.
"That's why I said that as long as you're in the magical world, it's very difficult to hide... because unless you appear out of thin air or deliberately erase all traces of your existence, there will always be some people or non-human beings who have come into contact with or heard of your existence."
"So," Bruce understood Zatanna's implication, "Jeg Winchester is either a wizard who appeared out of nowhere, or he erased his existence through some means."
"Both possibilities are unbelievable," Zatana remarked. "In the former case, it's more likely that someone born with magical abilities forged an identity to walk among humans."
"And if it is the latter, being able to achieve this level must mean possessing unimaginable abilities."
"But the other party claims to have amnesia," Bruce pondered. "There are even some indirect details that corroborate this."
"..." Zatana thought for a moment, "Could it be that the other party suffered some kind of magical accident, or perhaps they made a deal with a demon that demanded memories?"
"It's too early to say for sure, but I'm leaning toward the latter," Bruce said. "Jaeger Winchester's involvement in the Gotham case this time is suspected to be related to a deal."
“Otherwise, I don’t understand why he would suddenly get involved in a case that has nothing to do with him or magic.” Bruce shook his head. “That just doesn’t make sense.”
"But anyway, thank you for your help."
Bruce's tone softened a little: "I'll remember to write to you."
"Come on, you can't do that," Zatanna laughed. "But if I go on tour in Gotham next time and you don't come to support me, I'll definitely make you perform the magic trick of disappearing into thin air!"
"Okay," Bruce quickly replied, then heard Zatana hang up the phone.
He put down his phone and picked up another document on the table.
That was an investigation into the person "Jaeg Winchester" without going through the magical world.
The information found at the crime scene last time was hastily gathered, but even after a thorough re-examination at Jaeger's request, Bruce couldn't find anything wrong with the person's information.
Born in Massachusetts, USA, she lost both her parents and was raised by relatives in the UK. She attended school normally and graduated from the University of Edinburgh last year with a degree in linguistics.
But no information could be found about Jaeger Winchester's whereabouts after graduation.
As for the caregiver mentioned in the information, Bruce checked and found that he had also passed away.
In other words, unless he travels across the sea to England, there is no way to trace this person.
But the night patrols in Gotham were enough of a headache for him, and he couldn't find the time to go to England.
The investigation can only go this far.
"..." Bruce thought for a moment, and finally uploaded the data to his computer and forwarded it to Jaeger's Pingo account using the account "bat".
【bat】:The information you want me to investigate.
【bat】:Apart from that, I didn’t find anything else.
Meanwhile, Jaeger, on the other hand, did not reply for a long time.
……
……
……
After all, Jaeger was currently staring at the computer screen in front of him.
The screen displayed a line of text:
