Chapter 138 I've struck it rich
Chapter 138 I've struck it rich
"The corpses of extraordinary creatures? There must be at least ten of them, right?"
Lorne surveyed the various corpses around him, all bearing charred marks.
He instinctively got up and pulled the card from the corpse.
"This, this is!" Lorne's gaze shifted from shock to disbelief.
This is a playing card.
The front of the card depicts a man with his hands raised and wearing a triple crown, with believers prostrating before him, and lightning, dark clouds, gales, and waves behind him!
"It's Roselle!"
"No doubt about it, it's him."
Since arriving in this world, Lorne has been collecting information about Roselle, including not only notes, but also portraits, historical documents, and so on.
As a fellow time traveler, he paid close attention to Rosell, having seen portraits of Rosell from different periods. Therefore, it was impossible for him to mistake her for someone else.
Above and to the left of the statue of Rosell dressed as the Pope, a line of text appears formed by the glittering starlight:
"Sequence 0: Tyrant!"
Sequence 0! The sequence where the true god was supposedly located, I never thought it actually existed... Back when I first transmigrated, Lorne had conceived of the concept, and now it can be considered a form of confirmation.
This is the legendary Blasphemy Card... He had heard Edwina say that there was a legend about the Blasphemy Card in the occult world. It was a deck of 22 cards made by Emperor Roselle himself, and each card was said to contain a complete recipe.
I never imagined it was actually true.
Looking at the imposing Roselle on the card, Lorne couldn't help but think to himself:
This guy is so narcissistic, he actually used his own face as a model.
Now is not the time for careful study... He looked warily at the vast sea all around him.
He had noticed a strange gaze earlier, though he couldn't figure out its source...
However... it's much quieter now.
"This card is so valuable; it might cause some trouble."
Lorne examined his own condition again and found that his sealed spirituality seemed to have returned to normal. He then took out the 3 of Diamonds, infused it with spirituality, and successfully opened the space. Without much hesitation, Lorne placed the blasphemous card inside.
He then turned his gaze to the sea, examining the various corpses.
Several of them had already drifted with the current to the reef.
"Is that a curly-haired baboon?"
This is the corpse of a black, baboon-like creature. Black crystals have grown from its head, and these crystals have grown upwards, clustering together in a strange crown.
Because it was soaked in seawater, it has started to swell a bit.
But that's not the most important thing. What's important is that a semi-transparent, pitch-black fist has coalesced at the wound site on the baboon's corpse.
It's an extraordinary feature!
"This baboon's sequence might be even higher than mine." Sensing the spirituality contained within its characteristics, Lorne made this judgment.
He subconsciously picked up that characteristic and put it into the space of square 3.
Looking at the corpses floating around him, Lorne realized that this was a treasure trove.
The fact that these extraordinary creatures were able to leave behind corpses after such a terrifying attack shows that they were originally of a high level, probably no less than me.
Given Lorne and Tracy's previous condition, it would have been almost impossible for them to kill the baboon without taking any damage, but now they actually did it...
Fate is truly wondrous.
"But what should we do with all this...?"
It was true that the surrounding area was a treasure trove, but Lorne was troubled about how to deal with the corpses of these creatures.
Not every organism possesses extraordinary characteristics; some organisms have inherent value in their bodies or certain parts of their bodies are made of extraordinary materials.
Moreover, even if we were to put them all into our personal space, it would be impossible... There simply isn't enough space, and with so many extraordinary materials and properties mixed together, plus that blasphemous card, who knows what kind of strange mystical reactions would occur.
And, how should I get there...? This is the most troublesome problem for Lorne right now.
Surrounded by the sea, its only drawback being the destruction of the island, the pile of reefs beneath its feet was the only remaining land nearby.
"What should we do? Are we just going to wait for someone to pass by this area...?"
"Such a big thing happened here, there might be official word soon, and then things might get complicated..."
Just as Lorne was fretting, a broken mast came into view. Following the direction of the mast, he saw a small, tattered boat not far away, slowly drifting towards the reef with the ocean current.
This is the pirate ship "Blood Shark" that was stolen.
Although its appearance is tattered and broken, it can still float on the water, which means that it has not suffered too much structural damage, meaning that it should still be usable.
"This...this must just be a coincidence..." Lorne was somewhat incredulous at the sudden success. He had never been very confident in his luck, even after becoming a "lucky one".
After all, who's the lucky one who'll first have a romantic encounter with a parasite, suffer a shipwreck while traveling by boat, or be confronted by an evil god while exploring an island...
"Could this be the true power of the 'Lucky One'... or is it the legendary 'after hardship comes happiness'? But this is too..." Lorne fell into deep thought.
"Could it be that it's been affected by something again...?" He thought of his experience in Tingen.
"If not, then I must say 'monster' is a compliment."
……
After some effort, Lorne boarded the ship again. All the pirates who had been knocked unconscious were nowhere to be seen. Lorne guessed that they had probably been blown into the sea by the storm.
After all, the pirates were already unconscious, and the ship had clearly been affected by the lightning strike. With the strong winds and waves, it was quite normal for it to fall into the sea.
After silently mourning for the pirates for a second, Lorne began his work of moving things.
His first action was to transfer Tracy and Rachel to the ship.
Neither the human nor the cat was seriously injured. Rachel was simply unconscious. Tracy's injuries had worsened, mostly due to the disgusting giant hand. Now that the giant hand had been defeated, her condition was gradually stabilizing.
After treating their wounds and settling them in, he began to deal with the corpses of those extraordinary creatures.
Using broken fishing nets and hooks from the boat, or even going out to sea themselves.
To be honest, he's not very good at swimming, but the distance he swam that day was probably more than he'd covered in two lifetimes combined.
However, after all the "cargo" was loaded into the cabin, Lorne went to the cockpit and suddenly realized that he had overlooked a problem.
Looking at the ship's rudder in front of him, he muttered to himself:
"It's over..."
"I can't drive! I can't drive this boat."
