Chapter 2 Warning
Chapter 2 Warning
As the start of the workday approached, the empty workstations were quickly filled, and the common office area of Department Two became lively.
Wei Hongsi put away the sheet of paper with his own writing practice and the novel, and began to work, starting to refine a design plan.
The company he works for is called "Zhiwei Technology," which mainly engages in applications and research and development related to cutting-edge cognitive science.
Strictly speaking, he is still a third-year graduate student, and he won't receive his graduation certificate until next month. He is able to start working early thanks to the care and recommendation of his supervisor, Professor Zhou.
As time passed, I caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of my eye, and then I heard someone call out from the side, "Little Wei!"
Upon hearing the voice, Wei Hongsi knew it was his superior, He Feng. He turned around slightly and nodded, "Supervisor He."
He Feng was thirty-four or thirty-five years old, slightly overweight, with an impressive amount of hair, but dressed quite appropriately.
He glanced at Wei Hongsi's monitor and then said, "The Eighth Department sent an analysis request. Everyone else is busy, so you can handle it."
He paused for a moment, then emphasized, "I need it urgently, so you'd better hurry."
"Okay." Wei Hongsi nodded. "Transfer it to me."
He Feng glanced at Wei Hongsi's monitor again, then turned and left.
Not long after, Wei Hongsi received a new task on his WD: to conduct an evaluation of the effectiveness of four GG campaigns for a certain beverage.
WD is the closed office system of Zhiwei Technology, and almost all daily work is carried out on this platform.
Wei Hongsi checked the work content and saw that the key data collection in the early stage had been completed. It was not complicated to do, but it was very time-consuming. If it was done in the conventional way, it would probably take until night.
He glanced in the direction of He Feng's office, tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table a few times, then logged into the company's central server, found a data processing model called zw-2, and received a permission error when he tried to access it.
His mentor, Professor Zhou, has a long-term cooperative relationship with Zhiwei Technology. This model is a recent collaborative achievement between the two parties, and it was led and completed by Professor Zhou. Z and W are the first letters of their surnames.
But for some reason, although the formal deployment was completed at the beginning of the month, it has not been made available for use.
After logging out, Wei Hongsi logged in with his maintenance account for this project and re-entered the central server. He could only see the zw-2 model, but he could access it normally.
Next, he called up the model and used the central server's resources to preprocess the collected data, completing the work that would normally take several hours in less than an hour.
The rest was simple. He logged in with a new work ID and sent the preprocessed data to a standard analysis model on the central server.
I went to the tea room to get a glass of water, did some other work, and then the data analysis results came out.
By extracting several key data points and comparing them with the eye-tracking heatmap, Solution B showed a focus retention rate of over 70%, which is at least ten percentage points better than other solutions. It also performed exceptionally well in terms of visual focus dispersion.
Is he really that outstanding?
Wei Hongsi was somewhat surprised. Compared to this, the examples he had analyzed during his graduate studies were far inferior; it seemed that Solution B must have come from a large company.
He pulled up the standard report template and was about to fill it out when a line of text glowing red suddenly appeared in front of him.
[Risk Warning!]
Wei Hongsi was completely unprepared for the red text that suddenly appeared in front of him. He instinctively tilted his head back and almost twisted his neck.
The line of red text remained in the center of my field of vision, flashed for a few seconds, and then disappeared.
Is this... a variant of ghost script?
Does he really have a "system"? Or has his schizophrenia become more severe?
Wei Hongsi pondered for a moment and prepared to fill out the analysis report again, but no warning text appeared in front of him.
He simply finished filling out the report and was about to upload and submit it when text glowing red appeared before his eyes.
[Risk Warning!]
The color of the text seemed darker than before, and its flickering light gave it a bloody feel.
Wei Hongsi took a small sip of water, watched the warning text disappear from his sight, retrieved an algorithm model he had written from his personal files on his computer, adjusted some parameters, and then put the preprocessed data into it for analysis.
This time, without access to the company's central server resources, the speed will be much slower.
Wei Hongsi ran it in the background to continue refining the previously prepared plan. Although this would further slow down data processing, the impact was not significant.
When lunch break arrived, he locked his computer screen and left his workstation to eat.
The company's restaurant is located in the podium of this building and is not connected to the main building. You need to go down to the first floor and walk around the lobby first.
The restaurant boasts a comfortable and pleasant environment, and offers a wide variety of dishes, bringing together flavors from all over the country to cater to the dietary preferences of employees from different regions.
Wei Hongsi ordered the food according to his own taste and found a seat.
He had only taken two bites when he saw He Feng walking towards him, accompanied by a woman who looked quite young.
"Xiao Wei!" He Feng called out from several meters away, then asked as he approached, "Have you finished the work I assigned you?"
"It should be soon," Wei Hongsi said honestly. He estimated that the analysis results of his model should be available by the end of his lunch break.
He Feng's eyes widened, then he narrowed them slightly as he introduced, "This is Director Lu from Department Eight. She needs that report as soon as she starts work this afternoon."
The woman smiled and nodded to Wei Hongsi: "Hello, Engineer Wei."
"Hello, Supervisor Lu." Wei Hongsi nodded in greeting, glancing at her name tag which read Lu Jiaqi. "I'll send it to you after I start work this afternoon."
In the workplace, it's not easy to judge a woman's age based on her appearance alone.
Just like this Manager Lu, with fair skin, light makeup, and a slender figure, she looks to be no more than twenty-six or twenty-seven years old.
But in reality, she should be around thirty years old and showing some signs of age anxiety.
Wei Hongsi didn't know why, but he could always see through other people's real age, with an error of no more than one year.
"Thank you for your help then," Lu Jiaqi said again, and left with He Feng.
After finishing his meal, Wei Hongsi went to a bookstore near the company and took out the book "The Story of Time" to read.
During his free time, he likes to quietly read a few pages of a book while pondering some questions. This feeling can only be experienced when reading a physical book, and it cannot be replaced by any electronic device.
From the opening, this novel tells the story of a middle-aged man's memories of the past, and the writing is filled with a strange sense of fragmentation, like the monologue of a schizophrenic with multiple personalities.
This writing style is very unique, but it is also destined to be very niche, which explains why neither the book nor the author had ever heard of it.
However, it was still very attractive to Wei Hongsi, as it provided him with a unique reading experience.
