Prelude to Chapter 10
Prelude to Chapter 10
Ding Yafan and Mu Wei remained silent, and the conference room fell into a brief silence.
Dai Songquan, who had been leaning back in his chair as if detached from the situation, suddenly sat up straight and beckoned to Wei Hongsi: "Hongsi, come sit in the front. This isn't a management meeting; we're all working together to cooperate with Chief Ji, so we're all equal."
Wei Hongsi was quite surprised. He didn't expect that President Dai would call him by name so easily. He nodded and sat down to Yu Sheng's left.
After saying that, Dai Songquan leaned back in his chair, putting distance between himself and the conference table once again.
Seeing that Ding Yafan and Mu Wei had wisely kept quiet, Ji Yongsheng said, "Since everyone has no more questions, let's continue. President Gu, based on Engineer Wei's description, can we conclude that the company's standard eye-tracking analysis model is no longer reliable?"
Gu Shiming said, "I think that's true within a certain range. Its algorithm has very likely been cracked."
"So, is the research center prepared for model iteration, or does it plan to replace the standard model with a new algorithm model?"
"We have the necessary reserves, but we don't plan to do so because it doesn't address the root of the problem. I believe the hacker is within our company."
Gu Shiming's words caused an uproar in the meeting room.
While it is rare for a standard algorithm model to be cracked, it is not unacceptable.
As an industry benchmark, Zhiwei Technology is an open target. Even if it erects a shield wall around itself, it will inevitably be hit at some point.
At this point, simply repairing the shield wall and target in time, or replacing them with new ones, will solve the problem.
No one doubted that the research center had the capability and technical reserves to respond, but Gu Shiming said that the bullet came from inside the shield wall, which was a serious problem.
Ji Yongsheng raised his hand and gestured downwards to silence everyone, then asked, "Do you have a specific suspect?"
"Yes." Gu Shiming nodded and turned to look down.
To his left was Meng Haolin, the general manager of the technology development center. He was nearly fifty years old, the oldest person present.
"Xiao Gu, why are you looking at me like that?" Meng Haolin glanced at Gu Shiming sideways. "Are you doubting me?"
Gu Shiming's lips curled up slightly, and he leaned forward a little, his gaze passing over Jiang Kai, the general manager of the application promotion center, and landing on Mu Wei.
Mu Wei turned halfway to the right, staring directly at Gu Shiming: "Mr. Gu, what do you mean?"
Gu Shiming withdrew his gaze and said to Ji Yongsheng, "My suspicion is about the company's 'cognitive mirror system'."
What? The CMS has cracked the company's standard model?
What's going on here? Stepping on the right foot with the left foot to spiral upwards?
There must be a mistake, right?
Many people almost thought they had misheard, and countless question marks appeared in their minds.
"Gu Shiming!" Mu Wei was stunned for a moment, then slammed his hand on the table, causing the teacup in front of him to jump. "I'm warning you, don't talk nonsense! You can't bear this responsibility!"
Meng Haolin stared at Gu Shiming, let out a cold snort, and his face was so gloomy that it seemed as if water was about to drip from it.
Department Five is under the Technology Center. If the problem lies with the CMS, his responsibility will not be less than Mu Wei's.
Ji Yongsheng looked at Mu Wei, chuckled, and waved his hand, "Director Mu, don't get so agitated. Doesn't your hand hurt?"
Mu Wei righted the overturned teacup; thankfully, there wasn't much water left in it. Then he crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, looking indignant.
"Mr. Gu, do you have any evidence?" Qian Jiayu, who was sitting directly opposite Gu Shiming, asked.
This is Gu Shiming, the general manager of the Risk Response Center. His accusations against CMS or its managers fall within his authority.
"Yes." Gu Shiming nodded, then looked at Ji Yongsheng.
Ji Yongsheng took out several pages of printed paper bound together from the folder and handed them to Qian Jiayu.
Qian Jiayu took it and looked at it carefully. He closed his eyes and pondered for a moment, then quickly browsed through it again before handing it back to Ji Yongsheng.
Ji Yongsheng asked, "What's Mr. Qian's opinion?"
Qian Jiayu said, "I agree with President Gu's speculation."
Mu Wei looked at Qian Jiayu in disbelief, then at Meng Haolin.
Meng Haolin frowned: "President Ji, can I see that so-called evidence?"
"Of course, but not now." After saying that, Ji Yongsheng looked at Mu Wei, "Director Mu, has the CMS been running smoothly for the past two months?"
Mu Wei said, "I think it's normal. Although there are some abnormal fluctuations at certain times, they are all within the allowable range."
Ji Yongsheng asked, "Are you sure?"
Mu Wei nodded: "Of course. Director Ji can check the system logs, and Director Qian also has backups."
Ji Yongsheng then asked Meng Haolin, "What is President Meng's opinion?"
Meng Haolin said with a straight face, "I have no objection."
Ji Yongsheng smiled faintly and said, "President Meng, Director Mu, please don't get emotional. President Gu is suspicious of CMS, not you. I think you should also think about who is the most suspicious if President Gu's speculation is correct. In my personal opinion, if there really is such a mole, it wouldn't be any of you here."
Both Meng Haolin and Mu Wei showed thoughtful expressions on their faces.
Upon hearing Ji Yongsheng's words, the others couldn't help but think that although Gu Shiming had openly mocked them, he hadn't actually expressed any doubt about the two of them. While they would certainly bear responsibility if the CMS really had a problem, that was completely different from something they had done themselves.
Ji Yongsheng said, "You two think about it first. Everyone, think about it too, is there anyone particularly suspicious?" He looked towards the door and waved, "Let's get some more tea."
The security guard at the door opened the door and said something. After a moment, two venue staff members came in.
This time, a cup of tea was placed directly in front of Wei Hongsi, and he thanked the waiter in a low voice, a strange feeling rising in his heart.
He had felt this way before when the waiter offered him tea, but at the time his attention was focused on the event and he hadn't thought much of it. Now, reflecting on it, he couldn't quite pinpoint the source of that strange feeling.
Upon glancing at Ding Yafan diagonally across from me, I suddenly realized that it was because of the discrepancy between her actual age and the age she was portraying.
Generally speaking, women in the workplace tend to dress younger. This includes women like Ding Yafan, Lu Jiaqi, and many others in the company.
Of course, there are exceptions. Some young women who have just entered the workforce choose more mature clothing and makeup to downplay their girlishness in order to enhance their professional image.
But that waitress, who was actually under thirty, dressed herself up like a woman in her late thirties, which was quite unusual.
That strange feeling originated from this.
