Chapter 105 Testing
Chapter 105 Testing
As Su Zixu suddenly raised his head, a naked figure flashed past from behind the ancestral tablets in the ancestral hall.
He felt a chill run down his spine; it wasn't human, but it didn't look like a ghost either.
The thing seemed to have no bones; its head was flat, and its body resembled clay molded by a child.
Seeing that the other party did not intend to harm him, or rather, because he had not yet violated the other party's taboos, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Su Zixu quickly bent down and continued copying.
"Clang clang clang clang".
The footsteps suddenly grew closer and stopped less than half a meter away from Su Zixu.
Su Zixu's hand trembled slightly. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a pair of pale, bluish feet standing diagonally in front of him.
The thing stood on its tiptoes, legs spread wide apart.
Su Zixu pretended not to see anything and continued writing, with only one page left to finish.
But that thing seemed very curious about him, and kept getting closer to Su Zixu, step by step.
There was no time to wait. Su Zixu grabbed a piece of yellow paper and, following the method taught to him by Yue Zheng Fengye, drew a talisman on it.
However, whether it was because Su Zixu was an amateur or for some other reason, the talisman did not work.
Until that thing crossed the talisman, the yellow paper instantly burned into a handful of ashes.
Su Zixu was dumbfounded. When he looked up at the thing, he realized that he had encountered the evil creature that was impersonating General Lu.
It's not that the talisman is ineffective; it's that it simply can't suppress this thing.
The thing wrapped Zhang Jingjing's skin tightly around her body, making her upper body feel boneless as she slumped helplessly to one side.
Perhaps because it didn't know how humans walked, it always tiptoed, its two legs moving awkwardly as it approached Su Zixu.
The two were now only a palm's width apart, and the thing seemed to be observing Su Zixu.
It shifted its position, bringing its upside-down upper body closer to the paper beneath Su Zixu.
Then he reached out his hand, wanting to take the human bone token from Su Zixu's hand.
"Damn it... just one page left."
Su Zixu had a bad feeling. When Lezheng Fengye struck the clapper, it was already 6:30 in the morning.
It was already light outside, and Su Zixu roughly estimated that he probably had less than 10 minutes left.
Within 10 minutes, he had to complete the secret ritual and escape right under the nose of this evil creature.
Su Zixu racked his brains but couldn't come up with a solution; for now, he could only take it one step at a time.
He obediently handed the human bone token to the evil creature.
After obtaining the human bone token, he curiously began to play with it.
Taking advantage of this moment, Su Zixu came up with a plan.
It's too late to cut off his finger now, so he thought he'd just shave off the flesh from the tip and write with the bone; that would be faster.
Without hesitation, Su Zixu picked up a knife and cleanly and neatly sliced off the flesh from the tip of his right index finger.
Then they cut off pieces of fabric from the clothes and tied them around the fingers to prevent blood from flowing out.
Following the previous steps, he placed the first half of his finger directly on the inkstone and burned it.
Su Zixu nearly fainted several times, as the creature was drawn to him by his actions.
It crouched down, its head hanging down, staring intently at the inkstone until the end.
Su Zixu was already numb with pain, but he continued writing by dipping his burned fingertip bone in water.
The moment his finger bone touched the paper, the new pain sent his heart racing. Su Zixu felt as if he had almost died from that sudden pain.
The ten fingers are connected to the heart; this is no joke.
The thing came up to Su Zixu, holding a human bone token, and gloated as it waved it back and forth in front of him.
Seeing that Su Zixu ignored it, it pressed its face tightly against Su Zixu's face again.
An indescribable smell assaulted Su Zixu's senses.
He couldn't help it and gagged twice.
As time went by, the evil entity's temptations became increasingly excessive.
At first, they were just trying to pry open Su Zixu's fingers, but now they're trying to nibble on Su Zixu's face.
It is constantly testing Su Zixu's bottom line, or trying to get Su Zixu to respond to it.
Therefore, Su Zixu guessed that one of its conditions for killing was that the victim had to interact with it.
Or if you touch it, it will most likely be considered as interacting with it. In short, the best way is to ignore it.
The evil creature could no longer restrain itself. Su Zixu's shoulder had already been bitten through, and it seemed to want to bite off a piece of flesh.
Cold sweat dripped from his chin onto the ground. Finally, just as his shoulder was about to give out, Su Zixu finished copying the Yin Secret Prayer.
He slowly raised his upper body, and it seemed that the evil creature had no intention of giving in.
Su Zixu turned his head to look at that wrinkled, deformed face.
Its gums were exposed, and its dark yellow and black teeth were firmly embedded in its shoulder.
With a determined heart, Su Zixu picked up a small knife and, with a swift stroke, cut off the piece of flesh that the evil creature had bitten.
Blood was gushing from his shoulder, and in order to stay conscious, Su Zixu had bitten his gums until they bled.
Having lost its support, the evil creature's upper body, along with the piece of flesh, was thrown to the side.
Taking advantage of the moment before it could react, Su Zixu turned and ran toward the door.
Footsteps followed closely behind him, but suddenly stopped after Su Zixu ran out of the ancestral hall.
Su Zixu turned around and glanced at the monster standing behind the threshold. It seemed that it couldn't get out; the threshold was probably blocking it.
After leaving the house, Su Zixu didn't stop. He symbolically struck the clapper and then headed straight for the house in the west courtyard.
It was already a little past 7 a.m.
Su Zixu had already spotted the old servant who was about to enter the house from afar.
He exerted all his strength and finally overtook the old servant by a body length, a very dangerous feat.
After the old attendant entered, he first glanced at everyone, then slowly began to speak:
"Now that everything is settled, please follow me to the front hall, where the steward is already waiting."
In the square, the butler seemed to be in a great mood, as if he had never noticed the decrease in the number of people.
The butler, with his hands clasped behind his back, smiled and said to everyone:
"You have all done your jobs well tonight, and now I will tell you what you need to do tomorrow night."
Tomorrow night, the group will split into two: two will go to Quanze Village to seal off the spring, while the other five will go to Xitang in Southeast Town to prepare a prayer banquet.
The two groups were assigned, both determined by drawing lots.
Seven people, still black and red signatures.
Upon hearing that only two people were going to Quanze Village, everyone's expressions became more serious.
If neither of them gets into trouble, that's fine, but if one of them gets into trouble, the other is likely to be in grave danger.
After everyone had drawn lots, the butler didn't concern himself with whether they stayed or left.
It was only stated that those preparing for the banquet should gather at the square at 6:12 pm, while those going to Quanze Village in the evening should gather at midnight.
The butler left after speaking, and the group did not rush back.
