Chapter 25 Keeping Secrets and Potion Research
Chapter 25 Keeping Secrets and Potion Research
The next day, Saturday.
Today, I visited Vaughn in Gryffindor and saw Harry and Ron heading towards the Forbidden Forest early in the morning, with Hermione following behind them carrying books.
"I want to watch over you." That was her answer.
Ron felt that Hermione was definitely trying to get revenge on him, and was planning to keep an eye on their every move so she could report them to the professors when they made a mistake.
But Harry disagreed: "Hermione values house points more than anything. She's not going to wait for us to make a mistake and cause Gryffindor to lose points."
"So what exactly is she trying to do? Merlin's beard, every time I turn around I see someone creeping behind me, do you know how terrifying that is?"
Harry didn't want to know.
They went together to Hagrid's cabin on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where Hagrid warmly welcomed them. Hermione also went inside, but she spoke almost exclusively to Hagrid, ignoring Harry and Ron the entire time.
There, Harry found a newspaper with an article about the robbery at Gringotts, and judging from the date, it was the same day he and Hagrid went to Gringotts.
Thinking about what Hagrid was going to Gringotts to get, Harry quickly connected the two events.
When he returned, he patted the newspaper and said to Ron and Hermione:
"The people who robbed Gringotts might be looking for what Hagrid took. He was being very secretive at the time, only saying that it was very important."
"Look at the report here, 'The vault searched by the intruders had actually been emptied earlier that day,' absolutely right! Vault 713! There was only a dirty little bag inside, Hagrid took it, and that's how it was emptied!"
"cool!"
Ron whistled.
Then Harry seemed to remember something and looked at his two friends expectantly: "Uh, Hagrid said I can't tell anyone about this, you'll keep it a secret, right?"
"Absolutely confidential!" Ron pounded his chest, then coughed.
Hermione snorted: "I always keep my mouth shut!"
Yes, that's what Harry said to Hagrid back then.
So the next day, Vaughn found out...
"The magic stone..."
Vaughn went to the library, found a book about this alchemical artifact, and fell into deep thought as he looked at the illustrations.
Unlike the view that many people consider fan fiction unimportant, this is different from the view that they read fan fiction in their previous life.
The more Vaughn studied magic, the more he realized how amazing the Philosopher's Stone was. It could reverse matter, doing things that even the most advanced Transfiguration couldn't do—changing the nature of matter and turning any metal into pure gold.
The elixir of immortality made from it is the only thing that is definitively proven and has real-world examples of conquering death.
Nicolas Flamel and his wife, Pereñar Flamel, thus lived an extra 600 years...
Six whole centuries!
Is there anything more incredible in the magical world?
Of course, such immortality seems to have side effects. Vaughn recalled watching "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" in his previous life, in which Lemaître made an appearance.
A funny old man suffering from severe osteoporosis.
"It is said that the Flamels lived in seclusion in Devon, where my family also lived. Unfortunately, there is no more precise location. Moreover, given their caution, their hiding place was probably protected by some kind of magic, such as the 'Loyalty Spell,' making it impossible for others to find them."
"Otherwise, I really would like to visit him and have a good chat."
Vaughn had never been exposed to alchemy before. This more mysterious subject was introduced in books in the Hogwarts Library, but Vaughn was completely confused by them.
It contains lengthy descriptions of "spiritual journeys" and illusory creations, and seems to have been written by someone who was drunk.
Vaughn closed the book and was about to leave when the system panel popped up in front of him.
[New mission activated]
Side Quest 1: Obtain the Magic Stone
[Reward: Alchemy Talent]
"..."
Vaughn was speechless; the tasks the system was giving him were getting more and more outrageous.
The Philosopher's Stone is now the focus of both the Dark Lord and the White Lord; only a madman would target it.
Ignoring the system panel, Vaughn returned the book, and seeing that it was getting late, hurried to Professor Snape's office.
To be honest, Vaughn thought Snape had really bad taste.
The Potions classroom and offices were both located in the darkest part of Hogwarts Castle.
As soon as he stepped into the corridor, he felt a chill in the air. With such taste, how could he possibly compete with James Potter?
No girl would like him!
But when Vaughn pushed open the office door and saw the shelves full of herbs and piles of medicine on top...
Really fragrant!
It really smells good. Many people think that the ingredients for potions are strange and must smell terrible, but after processing, most of them will have a unique fragrance.
Not to mention those bottles of magic potions, placed in the medicine cabinet, reflecting the firelight from the fireplace, appearing crystal clear!
Snape remained expressionless, standing like a ghost in the corner, coldly watching Vaughn.
He only showed a slight smile when Vaughn was gazing intently at the potion—
It was worth the two days of painstaking selection from his treasured collection to fill the newly purchased medicine cabinet!
That's no easy task; it has to be precious, yet not look like showing off, and it also has educational value!
"Professor, this place is truly a treasure trove!"
Vaughn was full of praise.
Snape suddenly felt a sense of joy, which reminded him of Friday night when he went to the headmaster's office and gave Dumbledore the "scabies potion" that Vaughn had improved.
Dumbledore's surprised old face made him very happy.
The savior is nothing special, while his wicked classmate is a genuine Slytherin potions genius!
"Vaughn Weasley," Snape said slowly, "you'll have plenty of time to tour later. Now, let me see what's so special about your magic extraction methods."
"Oh? You have plenty of time to visit? Professor, can I come here every weekend from now on?"
Vaughn clearly knows how to grasp the key points.
Snape did not answer, which was obviously an admission. He stepped aside, revealing the cauldron behind him, where a potion was being brewed, namely "scabies potion".
Clearly, he wanted to observe the entire cooking process of Vaughn today.
Vaughn didn't mind, and drew his wand to get started.
After that, the only sounds in the gloomy basement were the sounds of processing medicinal herbs, stirring, and the occasional brief conversation.
"Hmm—a strange choice. How do you ensure the magic permeation?"
"Professor, your familiarity with materials may also be a talent for deformation. My magic allows me to easily observe their interiors."
"Of course, ordinary wizards can also choose to practice a lot and become proficient through practice."
"...Let me try."
"Okay, Professor!"
