Chapter 12 Lesson
Chapter 12 Lesson
Hermione Granger was delighted.
But just a few minutes ago, she was filled with a sense of urgency.
When Professor McGonagall appeared at her house and performed several Transfigurations in front of her family, Hermione felt her worldview was shaken, but she quickly became fascinated by magic.
She has been a firm believer in science since childhood, and the scientific view has always been this: existence is truth!
But the intelligent woman also understood that her Muggle origins were her greatest weakness.
Especially that day in Diagon Alley, when she witnessed Vaughn Weasley perform a magic trick with a snap of his fingers.
She also learned from Professor McGonagall that the other person was a year younger than her (Hermione's birthday is September 19th; if she had been born 20 days earlier, she would have started school a year earlier).
This sent chills down Hermione's spine...
It's horrible!
My classmates, who came from wizarding families, started practicing magic from a young age, while I "wasted" nearly 12 years of my life!
Rounding down, I'm practically a century behind my classmates!
Imagine her hiding in her bedroom, burying her face in her hands and breaking down.
So Hermione spent the entire summer eagerly absorbing knowledge and practicing spells.
Without guidance, it's very difficult to learn spells on your own. As the start of school draws closer, Hermione is becoming increasingly anxious. So, after boarding the Hogwarts Express today, she couldn't wait to find classmates from wizarding families and try to exchange ideas with them.
To be fair, things went quite well at first. In the rest compartment we shared, there was a girl named Susan Burns. She was very cheerful and outgoing, and she didn't like to hide her feelings. Almost all the new students in the carriage knew that her aunt was Amelia Burns, the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic.
The perfect learning resource!
But when Hermione cast a healing spell and tried to discuss her studies with Susan, the latter ignored her completely.
Then, she encountered Ron Weasley, the redhead from the Weasley family, again at the back of the car.
The boy, whom Harry Potter had met once before, was showing off his new wand to Harry Potter in a small room, which contained both the "terrible Weasley" and the savior described in "A History of Modern Magic".
Hermione, of course, wouldn't let such a golden opportunity slip by, so she urged Ron to cast the spell...
As for the result, let's not dwell on it!
The last person Hermione encountered was Neville Longbottom. When she grabbed the round-faced boy, he was crying and laughing while hugging and kissing a toad... To be honest, that sight made Hermione suddenly begin to doubt the educational issues of wizarding families.
"I don't know magic. If it weren't for the Hogwarts acceptance letter, my family would have thought I was a Squib..." Neville said, trembling under Hermione's intense gaze.
"You live in a world of magic, you've been exposed to it since you were little, how could you not know it?"
"Why...why don't you go find Mr. Vaughn Weasley? He's over there, he just helped me find Ralph."
Vaughn Weasley haunted Hermione Granger's nightmares for a whole summer.
But after half a day of trying and understanding her classmates' levels, she is now able to hold her head high with confidence.
Following Neville's directions, Hermione turned the corner and sure enough, she saw the familiar tall, thin man with red hair. He was strolling in the carriage corridor, playing with a wand in his hand.
"Vaughn...Weasley?"
For some reason, Hermione, who thought she was confident enough, suddenly felt her heart beat faster the moment she called out that name and saw the other person turn around and see that handsome face come into view.
Thump thump...
It looked like it was about to burst out of his throat.
Is this the aura of an opponent?
The girl, whose mind was always occupied with the word "study," had a buzzing sound in her ears.
Vaughn wasn't surprised to run into Hermione; the Hogwarts Express only had a few carriages.
He smiled and nodded: "Hello, Miss Granger."
Before coming to him, Hermione had a lot to say, such as challenging him to a spell contest, or telling him that she had read many newspapers and knew that he had already made achievements in potions.
But when she actually saw his greeting, Hermione suddenly found her mind went blank.
He simply replied dryly, "You, you too, Mr. Weasley..."
"Is there something you need, Miss Granger?"
"Vaughn asked."
"I……"
Hermione was stunned and about to say something when she was suddenly bumped aside by someone coming from behind.
He was a boy with short platinum blonde hair and pale skin, accompanied by two tall and burly followers. He was extremely arrogant, almost looking down on people.
"Get out of the way, you Muggle brat!"
Without even glancing at Hermione, who had nearly been knocked over, the boy looked Vaughn up and down and sneered, "Another Weasley. I just saw one, filthy and stupid, hanging out with that lousy Potter. And you... are even more out of place than him."
As he spoke, he finally glanced at Hermione out of the corner of his eye, then quickly looked away, as if looking at her for even a second longer would dirty his eyes: "To be friends with someone like that, with hair as messy as seaweed and front teeth as big as a rabbit's..."
Before he could finish speaking, Vaughn interrupted him: "Draco Malfoy?"
Malfoy was surprised for a moment, but quickly raised his head: "Yes, it seems you have some knowledge compared to that idiot Ron."
Vaughn remained noncommittal and slowly said:
"If I were you, I would get out of there right away, because there are no moms or dads to protect you on this bus."
A faint color returned to Malfoy's pale face. His eyes widened, and he waved his hands forcefully: "What, you want to fight too? Crabbe, Goyle, beat him up!"
The two seemingly dim-witted henchmen behind him were quite interested in this kind of work.
With a sinister grin and a roar, he lunged at Vaughn.
Hermione only had time to scream before she saw Vaughn raise his wand.
"Obstacles are numerous!"
The air blurred for a moment, and Goyle and Crabbe seemed to have suddenly plunged into a transparent and viscous swamp. Their movements slowed down rapidly, and they were restrained by an inexplicable force, their limbs spread wide as they floated into the air.
They looked like two frogs nailed to a lab table.
They cried out in terror, "Draco, help!"
Unfortunately, they called the wrong person. Draco had barely shown a look of fear when he saw Vaughn calmly point his wand at him, a burst of red light emanating from it.
"Disarm you!"
With a bang, Draco felt a tremendous force slam into his abdomen. The carriages on both sides rushed backward in his vision, and the next moment, he crashed heavily into the partition.
The violent impact had left his mind blank. Before he could even react, another incantation rang out: "Front teeth like a big club!"
Draco felt a tickle in his mouth. He stared wide-eyed as his front teeth grew rapidly, protruding from his lips in an instant, and even curving upwards playfully.
The series of blows made him burst into tears.
They dared not linger any longer, abandoning even Crabbe and Gore, and scrambled to escape to the back of the car.
At the same time, the students in each cubicle noticed the commotion outside and began to peek out.
Vaughn lifted the spell on Crabbe and Goyle, leaving the two to run away crying.
