Chapter 69 Assistant Coach Irving's First Signs of Power
In the afterglow of the lightning, some dark figures descended from the sky, landing neatly in two rows in front of Irving.
"Why aren't you staying in Azkaban? What are you doing here?"
A Dementor flew out, and Owen recognized it immediately—it was the one he'd slapped. But seeing it again felt strangely familiar. He reached out and gently patted the other's head: "You're leading the team?"
The Dementor nodded and then made a buzzing sound. Owen frowned as he listened: "Coming to the student train to check for criminals, Ministry of Magic, really something. Alright, you guys wait here, I'll go talk to those people."
The Dementors returned to the group, while Owen vanished with a soft "pop," reappearing not as Dementors, but as a group of Aurors.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I won't mention who came up with the idea of having Dementors investigate the student train. Now I can tell you with certainty that Sirius Black, whom you are looking for, is not on this train."
Some remained silent, while others objected: "Mr. Owen, we're just checking—"
"Check what?" Owen looked at the speaker. "If the Dementors can find out about the Animagus, then Sirius won't be able to escape. And if he transforms and gets on the train, then he won't be able to escape my big cat!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Molly appeared behind Owen. The little kitten from back then had now grown up completely, with a shoulder height of 1.3 meters and a body length of 2.8 meters. When she stood next to Owen, the Aurors all felt the pressure.
Cats and leopards are dangerous creatures classified as XXXXX!
Owen gently put one arm around the big cat's neck and looked at the Aurors, saying, "Before I boarded, I carefully checked the train. No strangers or unfamiliar pets boarded. On the contrary, by stopping the train halfway, you gave Sirius Black the opportunity to board. Are you really here to capture him, or to help him?"
"Mr. Owen, please watch your words. We are acting on behalf of the Minister of Magic—"
"Alright, I know. Minister Fudge is a very cautious person. Letting the Dementors check the car was probably not his idea, but someone else suggested it to him. So, Minister Fudge shouldn't be held responsible for this mistake. Alright everyone, it's getting late, let them pass."
After saying that, Owen and the big cat disappeared from the spot without making a sound.
"this----"
"It's okay, we'll just report it truthfully."
No one wants to have any conflict with Hogwarts. Dumbledore is one reason, and another reason is the students. They are not all orphans; behind them stand parents representing various social classes and powers.
The train started moving again, but the inspection didn't stop. Owen, with the big cat, walked from the front of the train to the back, and then back to the front. After confirming there were no new smells, he finally relaxed, but he still couldn't understand why the Ministry of Magic was keeping an eye on Hogwarts when Sirius Black had escaped.
There must be something I don't know about this.
"First-year students, first-year wizards, gather here!"
Year after year, Hagrid once again served as the guide for the freshmen, with Owen following behind them in a small boat for four.
"Um—you don't seem to be a first-year student, do you?"
The young wizard on the same ship, noticing that Owen was clearly a head taller than them, cautiously asked a question.
Irving laughed and said, "Yes, I'm not a freshman. Don't worry, I'm just here to make up the numbers. Of course, I also want to say hello to my old friends."
When the boat reached the middle of the Black Lake, Owen stood up and stepped out of the boat. The young wizard on the boat exclaimed in surprise, attracting the attention of the others.
With a light touch of his toes on the lake's surface, Owen took flight. At the same time, waves appeared on the surface of the Black Lake, and Mr. Octopus poked his head out. Beside him, countless fish-men also poked their heads out of the water.
Owen flew over, and Mr. Octopus extended a soft limb, allowing him to land on it.
"Everyone, it's been a long time. I have something I'd like to ask you all to be aware of. If any unfamiliar individuals attempt to enter Hogwarts recently, please keep an eye out and let me know."
The fish-men nodded, and the giant octopus extended another soft tentacle. Owen reached out and gave it a high five, then flew up again and landed back on the ship. Looking at the three novice wizards, he smiled and said, "Hogwarts has many wonderful places; you can explore them at your own pace."
Black Lake was large, but it wasn't possible for the newly enrolled students to take a boat ride around it. So, in no time, they arrived at the side gate of the castle. Professor McGonagall came out and first led the young wizards to rest and prepare. When she came out again, she handed the roster to Owen: "My dear, you will be in charge of this year's Sorting Ceremony."
"OK."
It's just a matter of saying the name and then putting the old hat on the little wizard's head; it's not a difficult task.
The division of labor went smoothly. Old Hat's songs were still as awful as ever. The first-year students were quite surprised to see that the person in charge of the division was that senior from Black Lake. But what surprised them even more was what came next: they learned that there was a special seat for him at each of the four division tables.
"You should show respect to Mr. Irving. He is a teaching assistant for all subjects. If you have any questions after the start of the semester, you can go to him after dinner and he will answer them for you."
"We Slytherins have a habit of getting up early for a morning run, which was set up for us by Mr. Owen. So tonight, you should go to bed early. Someone will wake you up tomorrow, and then you will find that being assigned to Slytherin is your greatest fortune."
"Don't disturb Mr. Owen while he's reading, or there will be terrible consequences."
"This is Mr. Irving's reserved seat. Please don't sit in the wrong place. Even if you do, don't touch Mr. Irving's special meal."
After dinner, Owen went to the Forbidden Forest again, but didn't go deep into it. He just walked around the perimeter and explained what he had told the octopus and the fish-men. Then he went to the principal's office and told them everything that had happened on the train.
When Owen distanced himself from Minister of Magic Fudge, the old wizard was quite surprised: "Owen, as far as I know, this was Fudge's idea. Your purpose in doing this is—"
"Principal, please leave this matter to me. I think—I know what Minister Fudge means."
