Chapter 30: Using Clues to Inquire About Exploring the Forbidden Forest
Chapter 30: Using Clues to Inquire About Exploring the Forbidden Forest
Harry drew his sword, startling Hagrid so much that he nearly lost his mind.
"Harry! No!"
He shouted loudly, but Harry's knife was swift, pressing against the young dragon's neck in an instant.
The cleaver was sharp, the blade pressed against the scales, leaving a line of blood.
Harry yelled, "Come on! Come on! You wicked beast! Spray me again!"
It is precisely this tendency to seek advantage and avoid harm that applies to all things. Although this fledgling dragon was still young and ignorant, not yet knowing what life and death meant, it felt a chilling aura on its neck and a surging murderous aura from the person in front of it.
The ferocity within its body was dispelled by this malevolent energy. Its limbs spread out, its wings folded, and it nearly urinated, daring not to move an inch more.
Seeing it cowering, Harry snorted and then sheathed his knife.
Hagrid quickly wrapped the baby dragon in his arms, saying with heartache, "Harry, he's just a child."
Harry said, "Brother, you're kind-hearted, but you've misdirected your efforts. If this beast isn't disciplined and its wild nature tempered, it'll have sharp teeth and claws one day and might even devour its master!"
Harry's words were as precious as gold. Hagrid scratched his head. "Well, I just thought you were really going to kill Norbert."
The young dragon recovered from Hagrid's embrace, opened its mouth again, and breathed fire.
Harry saw it clearly and stared at it, and the young dragon drooped its head and curled up on its own.
Ron clicked his tongue in amazement and said, "Harry, if Charlie knew you were taming dragons like this, I bet he'd talk to you about it all day."
Harry found it strange. "If you don't train livestock like this, how else are you going to train them?"
Livestock?
Ron swallowed hard. Dragons are level 5X magical creatures, and Harry is treating them like livestock...
No wonder he's the wizard who defeated the mysterious man!
With Harry there to keep them in check, the fledgling dragon behaved itself. Ron and Hermione, having had their fill of playing with it, then the three of them left.
Once outside, Haigshan called out to himself, "Come visit often when you have time. I'll write to you and share Norber's daily life."
Seeing his delight, Hermione smiled and said, "It seems Hagrid is ready to be a mother."
"Oh, being a male mom isn't easy," Ron muttered. "Can you imagine how much Norber will eat every day when he grows up?"
"If you ask me, it could eat up half of the Forbidden Forest."
Upon hearing the term "Forbidden Forest," Hermione suddenly exclaimed, "Ah! I know!"
The shout was abrupt, startling Ron, who trembled. "Hermione, please don't jump around like that—is there a problem with the Forbidden Forest?"
"Think carefully," Hermione said in a low voice, her voice trembling with excitement. "We've searched the entire castle and haven't found the Philosopher's Stone. Where else could we possibly be looking?"
Harry exclaimed, "If what Big Sister said is true, the Philosopher's Stone is hidden in the Forbidden Forest?"
Ron, upon hearing this, felt a sense of relief. "There are plenty of magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest. No wonder that guy tried to get close to Hagrid; no one knows more about the Forbidden Forest than Hagrid!"
Hermione and Ron quickly grasped the secret and were overjoyed.
The way is:
Ron spoke without thinking, but Hermione had a sudden flash of inspiration.
It’s not a waste of time to break through the iron shoes.
These three were eager to explore the Forbidden Forest, but they knew it was a dangerous place, teeming with level 5 magical creatures. If they went recklessly, they would surely perish.
Ron thought for a moment and said, "How about we have Hagrid lead us? He definitely knows where the dangers are and where it's safe."
"But we're going to find the Philosopher's Stone, and Hagrid can't find out." Hermione rolled her eyes. "Besides, the Forbidden Forest is so big, how could we possibly find it all?"
Seeing Hermione's confidence, Harry knew she must have a plan, and said urgently, "Good sister, if you have an idea, tell me quickly, don't keep me in suspense."
Hermione was momentarily distracted by her sister's suggestion, then coughed and said, "Alright, we can try to get information out of Hagrid and get him to tell us where the magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest live."
"By comparing the magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest with the magical creatures Hagrid mentioned in Hogsmeade, we'll know where to look."
Harry clapped his hands in approval, "Brilliant! Brilliant! That's a great plan, let's do as Big Sister says."
From then on, whenever the three had free time, they would visit Norbert at Hagrid's hut. While drinking and chatting, they would also learn about the Forbidden Forest path and the creatures hidden there.
Hagrid was a rough and unrefined man who didn't think much of things and always answered questions. For several months, the three of them had thoroughly figured out the Forbidden Forest.
"Oh, Hagrid, are there hippogriffs in the Forbidden Forest?" Hermione asked, resting her chin on her hand. "You know, of all the people I know, you're the one who knows the most about magical creatures."
Hagrid was delighted by these words. He puffed out his chest and chuckled, "Oh, Hermione, I just know a little more than others."
"Most of the hippogriffs live in the northernmost part of the Forbidden Forest, and I rarely see them."
Hermione nodded to herself, then added a few more strokes to the parchment in her hand.
"That's about it."
Seeing Hagrid teasing Norbert, Hermione leaned down and whispered to Harry and Ron, "Now that we have a basic understanding of the situation in the Forbidden Forest, we can move in."
Ron was also eager to get started. "How about tonight? I'm all ready."
The two were in high spirits, but Harry felt a little worried.
He thought to himself: With this monk's sword by my side and a mastery of martial arts, even if I were to run into a dragon's den or a tiger's lair, or a mountain of knives or a sea of fire, I would still have the means to dodge and weave.
My elder sister and brothers have only learned some everyday spells. If we were to encounter a truly formidable opponent, I wouldn't be able to spare three heads and six arms to protect them.
He wanted to explore the Forbidden Forest alone, but knew that Hermione and the other woman would not allow it, so he decided to hire a bodyguard to protect them.
Harry was lost in thought when he met Noble's gaze.
The fledgling dragon is now the size of a tooth, yet it still remembers the ferocious man from when it was born. Upon seeing his fierce eyes, it quickly twisted its neck and stopped the flames from its mouth and nose.
Harry thought to himself with delight: Even if I can't get a bodyguard, I'll still have a beast of burden!
He wanted the dragon, but instead of saying so directly, he cupped his hands and asked, "Brother Hagrid, how is Norber's appetite these days?"
Hagrid, upon hearing this, said with concern, "It's at least ten times what it was when it was born, and its appetite is still increasing."
"If that's the case, brother, why don't you hand it over to me? I've recently hit a roadblock in my sword practice and want to find a ferocious beast near the Forbidden Forest to hone my skills on."
"By bringing Norber along, I can teach it to find its own food, and I'll have a protector too."
Hagrid knew that Harry had killed trolls and was highly skilled in martial arts, but he was worried that going to the Forbidden Forest would violate school rules.
He hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Harry, you can't go to the Forbidden Forest, or the surrounding area either. That's against school rules."
"Oh dear, brother, don't be so old-fashioned. Why are you putting on such a petty act again?"
Hagrid, a man of principle, could not tolerate Harry saying such things.
Besides, Harry had previously helped him out of his predicament by allowing him to keep Norbert at home, and it was time to repay that great favor.
"Hmm... if it's just around the Forbidden Forest, then I don't think there's much of a problem."
"But I have to go with you."
There's a story about Harry wanting to practice his swordplay using Dragon's Might, but Hagrid, strictly adhering to school rules, tries to stop him. After several rounds of provocation and leveraging his personal favors, Hagrid finally agrees to go along. To find out what happens next, stay tuned for the next installment.
