Chapter 28 Ollivander's Friendly Sponsorship!
Chapter 28 Ollivander's Friendly Sponsorship!
Ollivander was startled and cautiously reminded him, "Mr. Potter, people in the wizarding world usually call that person the Mystic, you..."
"No need to say anything more, I don't want this wand! Please find me another one!"
Harry put down his wand. Unlike the naive and kind-hearted savior in the original story who could almost forgive the murderer of his family, this Harry, under Dudley's influence, has a clear and simple moral compass and a sense of right and wrong.
He was extremely averse to anything related to Voldemort.
"Don't rush, Harry!"
Just as Mr. Ollivander was somewhat at a loss, Dudley walked over and spoke up.
"Cousin, this wand..." Harry pouted, his little face filled with confusion.
Dudley patted Harry's tuft of hair on his head and reassured him, "We should at least ask Mr. Ollivander about the function of the twin wands before making a decision."
“This one…” Ollivander said in a questioning tone.
"Dali Dursley!"
Dali gave his name.
Earlier at the Leaky Cauldron, everyone was focused on Harry and no one paid attention to Dudley, so Ollivander didn't know Dudley's full name.
Announcing your name is a rule at Ollivanders.
Ollivander would remember the names of everyone who bought a wand from this shop and what kind of wand they bought.
No matter how much time has passed, Ollivander can clearly state the relevant information, comparable to a computer.
"That's a good question, Mr. Dursley!"
Ollivander greatly admires wizards who are interested in wand knowledge, provided they do not delve into his core wand-making skills.
He explained, "The Twin Wands are very peculiar. If the people who wield the Twin Wands are friends and cast spells together against an enemy, the power of their spells will be amplified tenfold."
However, if the wielders of twin wands become enemies, their spells will cancel each other out, because the wands don't want to attack their sibling; they have their own preferences!
"Understood!"
Dudley nodded, then looked at Harry.
Harry immediately understood what his cousin meant: "I understand, cousin! I want this wand!"
"Well then, Mr. Ollivander, now that we've chosen our wands, I have a few more things to ask you..."
"Dali spoke swiftly and decisively to Mr. Ollivander," he said.
"Wait a moment, Mr. Dursley, wait a moment!"
Ollivander then noticed the wand box in Dudley's hand. What a decisive customer! He actually picked out the wand himself!
That won't do! The Ollivander family would never sell wands to unsuitable wizards!
“Mr. Dursley, it’s about choosing a wand! Do you understand? Choosing a wand is a very serious matter…”
Ollivander said with a straight face, but he couldn't finish his sentence.
Dudley opened the long, thin box in his hand and took out the poplar wand inside.
Hold it in your hand and give it a gentle swing!
Sparks flew everywhere!
Gentle, radiant, and compliant!
"How is this possible?" Ollivander exclaimed in astonishment.
Dudley didn't use his family's techniques; he just looked around and managed to choose such a perfect wand from among thousands of wands?!
He even chose it through the wand box!!!
Please tell me your secret!
Ollivander was overjoyed. He stepped forward, grasped Dudley's hand, and his silvery-white eyes shone with an intense thirst for knowledge.
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way, Mr. Ollivander!” Dudley said earnestly, “Just as you said, wands choose wizards! So, if we just sense their will, we can accurately choose the wand that suits us!”
Their lives were created by you and your ancestors, so you should be able to connect with them more easily, shouldn't you?
If you could communicate with the wands, you wouldn't need to measure them with a ruler anymore when choosing wands for wizards. You could just ask which wand is most favored by the visitor! The workload would be greatly reduced!
"Is that how they did it?"
Ollivander was momentarily lost in thought, his mind replaying the theory that Dali had just concocted, and the more he thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed!
That makes sense! Absolutely right!
Ollivander was overjoyed; the old man even started dancing wildly on the spot, clearly very happy.
"Don't rush to dance! I have something to tell you!" Dali quickly grabbed Ollivander's shoulder, and the strong force instantly prevented Ollivander from dancing.
"Enough! I know! Thank you, Mr. Dursley, for passing on such an important secret to me! You don't need to pay! I'll give you both wands for free!" Ollivander was still very happy, and very generous.
"That would be great! You can give us a few more wands!" Dudley, with his thick skin, seized the opportunity and said with a grin.
"what?"
Ollivander was stunned. After a pause, he said, "A person can only carry one wand at a time, and the wand cannot be replaced before it is damaged. This is a rule of the Ministry of Magic."
At the same time, our family fully agrees with this rule. We can't treat wands like any other commodity, selling them in bulk without proper authorization!
"We're not just anyone! Look out the window!"
Dudley said in a low voice, as if conveying some secret message.
Ollivander was startled and looked out the window at the shop entrance.
He saw Albus Dumbledore, the greatest wizard of the 20th century, and Cornelius Fudge, the current Minister of Magic, who turned and left with a flourish.
"Could it be..." Ollivander had a guess.
"Shh! Don't say it out loud!" Dali warned mysteriously.
"Alright then! In that case, why do you need a wand? Who wants to use it?"
Ollivander compromised, believing he had become involved in a major event that could reshape the landscape of the British wizarding world.
"That one! And that one too!"
Dudley brandished his newly acquired poplar wand and smoothly cast two Summoning Charms, taking two boxes of wands from the shelf.
Of these two wands, one is extremely well-suited to his [weak wizard bloodline], with the same material for the wand shaft and core as the one Harry has, but it is made from different trees and a phoenix, and is not a twin wand.
The other wand has an oak shaft and a unicorn tail hair core, the same material as Hagrid's umbrella wand, and was prepared by Dudley for his father Vernon.
He took Hagrid's blood from the underground vault, not because he had nothing better to do.
"I've taken these two wands! As for who will use them, that's a secret! Mr. Ollivander, for your own safety, it's best if you don't know!"
Dali looked serious, as if he were doing this for your own good.
Ollivander, as expected, shrank back and stopped asking questions: "Here you go!"
"There's one more thing!"
As Dudley spoke, he tucked the two new wands he had just acquired into the specially sewn inner pocket of his coat, and then took out Quirrell's cracked wand and placed it in front of Mr. Ollivander.
"You need to help me determine who this wand belongs to, and then provide me with a certificate!"
