Chapter 10 Communication
Chapter 10 Communication
After Matthew and the others had walked away, and Geralt glanced at Alice and the others who were no longer around, he lowered his voice and asked Zhan Lan, Zheng Zha, and Zhu Peng:
"Are those things floating in the water the zombies you were talking about?"
Janlan, who had been standing beside Geralt, immediately responded upon hearing this:
"Yes, everything we encounter that looks like a corpse is a zombie."
At this point, Zhan Lan paused for a moment, then, considering Geralt's special circumstances, changed her approach:
"You can think of these zombies as something similar to ghouls."
Upon hearing this, Geralt looked at Zhan Lan thoughtfully, his eyes showing some surprise.
Zhan Lan looked calmly into Geralt's orange cat eyes, seemingly knowing that Geralt would react this way. The corners of her mouth turned up slightly, and her eyes did not look away in the slightest.
At this moment, Zhu Peng, who was standing nearby, joined the discussion:
"Brother Geralt, so you haven't seen Resident Evil? Let me give you a brief summary of the plot!"
Zhan Lan looked at Zhu Peng and said:
"Let me explain. You've probably forgotten most of the details!"
Upon hearing Zhan Lan's words, Zhu Peng said somewhat embarrassedly:
"That's true. We can't be careless about the plot. I only remember the general plot."
Upon hearing Zhan Lan's words, Geralt had no choice but to temporarily abandon his desire to ask questions and listen carefully to Zhan Lan's explanation of the Resident Evil plot.
Zhan Lan succinctly and concisely explained to Geralt the plot of the Resident Evil movie and the characteristics of the monsters they would encounter.
After listening, Geralt thoughtfully concluded in his mind:
"It seems that the horror movies they're talking about are similar to plays, novels, biographies, and the like."
"And judging from Zhan Lan's description, it's as if she's seen it with her own eyes. I guess the way horror movies are presented is similar to the way sorcerers leave their mark."
Thinking about this, Geralt suddenly realized that the Supreme God's act of throwing them into a horror movie was very similar to an experience he had in Toussaint.
In order to stop Deraf, I accidentally entered a fairy tale book and became deeply involved in the story.
From an outsider reading a book to becoming a part of the story, how is this any different from my current situation?
"As for zombies, according to Zhan Lan, they are monsters that are formed when living people are infected with the T-virus. They do have similarities to ghouls, and even to monsters like the Carrion Devourer."
"However, there is still a slight difference. Most ghouls are human corpses that have been infected by a curse, while carrion demons are more like zombies. These demons are also corpses that have been resurrected after being infected by viruses or bacteria."
Geralt, having thought of this, looked at Zhan Lan and asked again:
"Do zombies only spread among the living?"
Geralt paused for a moment, then quickly added, "If it's a corpse, will it turn into a zombie due to T-virus infection?"
Zhan Lan nodded after hearing this and said:
"In the second movie, there were indeed corpses crawling out of the cemetery, so it seems that even the dead can be infected by the T-virus and turn into zombies."
In this way, Geralt finally had a certain understanding of zombies.
"No, no."
Geralt frowned slightly and muttered to himself.
Zhan Lan, who was standing very close, heard this and asked, "What's wrong?"
Upon hearing this, Geralt looked at Zhan Lan and asked earnestly:
When you first told me the plot, you said that because Spencer broke a T-virus, the virus spread through the ventilation system into the air throughout the hive, causing everyone in the hive to become infected after inhaling it, right?
Zhan Lan replied with a puzzled look, "That's right, that's how it is!"
Geralt continued, "Then, to prevent the T-virus from spreading, the Red Queen sealed off the Hive, cutting off all contact with the outside world, and killed all the infected people in the Hive, right?"
At this point, Zhan Lan seemed to understand Geralt's meaning: "You mean, we..."
Geralt nodded solemnly and said, "I wonder if that so-called God can eliminate the T-virus. I'll find a chance to ask Zhang Jie. If he can't, then we must take the briefcase that Spence took with him."
At this point, Zheng Zha was completely confused and couldn't help but ask, "What are you guys talking about?"
Zhan Lan took a deep breath, composed herself, and said, "From the moment we entered the hive, we were already infected with the T-virus. The T-virus evolves very quickly, first changing from a liquid state to a gaseous state, and then spreading through the bloodstream."
"The reason we haven't turned into zombies yet is probably because our viral load isn't high enough."
The high school boy who had been silent all along looked incredulous and subconsciously retorted:
"How is this possible? None of us have been bitten by zombies!"
Zhu Peng said with a grim expression, "The T-virus can be transmitted through the air, and the air in the hive is contaminated with the T-virus."
Zheng Zha finally understood. He rubbed his face to calm himself down and asked, "So, the longer we stay in the hive, the higher the T-virus content in our bodies will be, and the faster we will mutate into zombies."
The high school boy, his face ashen, slumped to the ground, muttering to himself, "Then we're doomed."
For a moment, the atmosphere among the crowd became as cold as ice.
After carefully recalling the details of the first and second Resident Evil movies, Zhan Lan calmly said, "We won't necessarily turn into zombies."
"The transmission of the T-virus through the air depends on the viral load and the individual's physical condition. This is unlike the blood transmission after being bitten by a zombie, in which case without the T-virus antidote, one would definitely turn into a zombie."
"In the second movie, after the T-virus leaked from the Hive, not everyone in Raccoon City turned into a zombie."
"If airborne transmission also inevitably leads to turning into zombies, then there will be no survivors in Raccoon City."
At this point, Zhu Peng regained his composure and added, "That's right, I've played the Resident Evil series of games, and because of Jill's character, I watched the second movie several times."
"I remember a scene in the second movie where Jill was at the gate exit from Raccoon City, and there was a father and daughter. The father suddenly turned into a zombie, and his daughter immediately said that he had a heart condition."
"If this father was bitten by a zombie, he certainly wouldn't have stayed with his daughter all the time, and his daughter would probably have known about it, so it's highly likely that the infection was transmitted through the air."
"This shows that airborne transmission does indeed depend on individual physical condition, since his daughter was unaffected."
The more Zhu Peng spoke, the more confident he became, clearly indicating that he had completely believed this claim.
