Chapter 11 Little Clouds
Chapter 11 Little Clouds
The morning PE class was bathed in warm sunshine.
Teacher Chen led the children to the playground and clapped her hands: "Today we're going to play a game!"
All the children turned to look at her.
"Two people form a relay race! The first-place winner will receive a strawberry gummy candy!"
"Wow!"
The children were thrilled.
Song Huan stood there and yawned.
Strawberry gummies?
He, a man in his thirties, had absolutely no interest in this kind of thing.
But a voice came from the side.
Strawberry gummies... strawberry gummies...
He turned his head and saw Xiao Yunqing staring at the candy in Teacher Chen's hand, her eyes sparkling.
I want to eat...
[It looks so delicious...]
Song Huan was speechless.
This girl is actually a little glutton.
"Now, let's divide into groups!" Teacher Chen took out a small notebook. "Two people per group, one boy and one girl, so everyone can make more friends!"
Song Huan was stunned for a moment.
A male-female pairing?
This Teacher Chen has quite a few ideas.
It would be a shame not to become a matchmaker.
Teacher Chen began calling out names.
"Group 1, Li Ming, Wang Xiaohua."
"The second group, Zhang Wei and Liu Tiantian."
……
As she read, Song Huan heard a familiar name.
"Group 8, Wang Hao, Xiao Yunqing."
Upon hearing that she wasn't in the same group as Song Huan, Xiao Yunqing's face instantly fell.
She turned to look at Song Huan, her eyes filled with rejection.
[No, no, no!!]
[That annoying fat guy!!]
I want to be with Song Huan!
Song Huan also frowned.
He looked at Wang Hao, the chubby boy who had pushed Xiao Yunqing down last time, who was standing next to him with a smug look on his face.
"Xiao Yunqing," Wang Hao waved his fist at her, "you're in my group, and you have to listen to me!"
Xiao Yunqing ignored him and just looked at Song Huan with pitiful eyes.
I'd like to be in a group with you.
Song Huan understood.
Under Xiao Yunqing's expectant gaze, he raised his hand without hesitation: "Teacher!"
Teacher Chen looked at him: "Song Huan, what's wrong?"
"I want to be in a group with Xiao Yunqing."
Teacher Chen paused for a moment and looked at the list in her hand.
She knew that Xiao Yunqing and Wang Hao had a conflict last time, and thought she could use this activity to ease the tension between the two children.
"But... the teacher has already divided them up."
Seeing an opportunity, Xiao Yunqing immediately ran over and grabbed Song Huan's arm.
She didn't say anything, but looked at Teacher Chen with her bright eyes, her gaze filled with "please."
Teacher Chen looked at the two little ones and couldn't help but smile.
She knew the two children had a good relationship; they sat together and played together every day. Last week, Song Huan even carried Xiao Yunqing to the infirmary.
"Alright, alright," she waved her hand, "Then you guys are in one group. Wang Hao, you and...
She looked at the list and grouped Wang Hao with another girl who was alone.
Wang Hao's face darkened instantly.
He glared at Song Huan and Xiao Yunqing, his eyes full of displeasure.
"Hmph!" He snorted heavily.
Song Huan glanced at him but didn't say anything.
……
The game started.
Several running tracks were drawn on the playground. Two people ran in a relay race, one person ran across and the other ran back.
Teacher Chen blew his whistle: "Ready, go!"
Song Huan rushed out.
He ran very fast.
He had the body of a three-year-old but the willpower of a thirty-year-old. He ran like a cannonball, leaving the other boys in his group far behind.
"Go Song Huan!"
Xiao Yunqing's voice came from behind.
Song Huan glanced back and saw Xiao Yunqing standing at the starting line, hands to her mouth, shouting desperately.
She shouted until her face turned red.
Song Huan smiled and ran even faster.
He quickly reached the finish line, then ran back and gently patted Xiao Yunqing's hand.
"It's your turn."
Xiao Yunqing nodded, took a deep breath, and rushed out.
She ran very seriously.
The little figure sprinted down the track, her little ponytail bouncing behind her head.
Song Huan stood at the starting line and watched her run.
[Hurry, hurry!]
[We must get first place!]
[I want candy!]
[Give it to him!]
Song Huan was stunned for a moment.
Should I feed him?
Is this girl running so desperately to give him the candy?
As he was thinking, he suddenly saw a discordant scene on the track.
Xiao Yunqing had already reached the turning point and was rushing back.
Meanwhile, Wang Hao had just finished the first leg of the race and was standing on the track catching his breath.
He saw Xiao Yunqing rush past him, about to cross the finish line, and his expression turned angry.
Then he reached out and gave him a hard shove.
Xiao Yunqing was completely unprepared and fell forward, crashing heavily to the ground.
"what!"
She screamed and then burst into tears.
Song Huan's mind went blank for a moment.
He didn't have time to think and rushed forward.
Xiao Yunqing lay on the ground, her knees and palms scraped and bleeding, crying in pain.
Wang Hao stood to the side, a smug smile on his face.
"Hmph, serves you right for running so fast."
Before he could finish speaking, a small fist slammed into his face.
Song Huan hit him, and without saying a word, he rushed over and threw a punch.
Wang Hao was stunned for a moment, then became angry and reached out to fight back.
But before he could make a move, Song Huan had already charged at him head-on.
Their heads hit each other with a dull thud.
Wang Hao was knocked so hard he landed on his bottom, stunned for a couple of seconds, and then burst into tears.
Song Huan stood in front of him, panting heavily, and kicked him a few more times.
"Touch her again, and I'll kill you."
The sound wasn't loud, but it was very cold.
Wang Hao was terrified and cried even louder.
Teacher Chen rushed over at this moment, shocked, and hurriedly pulled the two children apart.
"What's wrong?! Stop hitting me!!"
……
in the office.
Teacher Chen sat in the chair, feeling utterly overwhelmed.
What was supposed to be a fun event turned into this mess?
Xiao Yunqing sat on a chair in the corner, her knees and palms covered in red medicine. She had stopped crying, but her eyes were still red.
She leaned against Song Huan, burying her head in his chest like a frightened kitten.
Song Huan put one arm around her and gently patted her back with the other.
"It's alright now," he said softly.
Xiao Yunqing didn't say anything, but just hugged him even tighter.
On the other side, Wang Hao was being pulled by his mother to stand in front of the desk.
Wang Hao's mother was a plump woman with a very loud voice; she started yelling as soon as she entered the door.
"Who hit my son?! Who hit my son?!"
Pointed out by the chubby boy, she saw Song Huan and immediately rushed over: "You're the one who hit my son?!"
Song Huan looked up at her but didn't say anything.
"Why are you hitting me?! Where are your parents?! Call your parents here!"
Teacher Chen quickly stood up to smooth things over: "Wang Hao's mother, please don't get agitated. Here's what happened..."
"I don't care about anything!" Wang Hao's mother interrupted her. "He hit my son! Look at this bump on his head! He's so young and he already knows how to hit people, what will he be like when he grows up?!"
Xiao Yunqing lifted her head from Song Huan's embrace, her eyes red, and said, "He pushed me first!"
Wang Hao's mother paused for a moment, then raised her voice even louder: "That doesn't mean you can hit someone! What's wrong with pushing them? Isn't it normal for kids to roughhouse?"
Song Huan looked at her and spoke.
"Auntie, your son is half a head taller than me and a whole size stronger. If he pushes me, I might fall. But if he pushes her, she scrapes her knee and scrapes her hand."
His voice was calm, unlike that of a three-year-old.
"You call this roughhousing?"
Wang Hao's mother choked.
"You...you're just a kid, yet you're so talkative!" she snapped, enraged. "I don't care! You hit my son, so you have to apologize!"
"Shouldn't he apologize for pushing her?"
"Isn't she alright?!" the woman said unreasonably.
Song Huan smiled.
That kind of laughter isn't the laughter of a three-year-old.
"Auntie, according to your logic, I didn't beat your son to death, so you shouldn't be angry either?"
Wang Hao's mother was furious and started cursing at Song Huan.
"You! You little brat, how dare you talk to me like that?! I'm calling the police! I'm calling the police to arrest you!"
She took out her phone, her fingers trembling, as she was about to dial.
Teacher Chen was frantic, pacing back and forth: "Wang Hao's mother, no, no, no, it's just between the children, it shouldn't be like this..."
"Call the police?"
A chilling voice boomed in from the doorway, and the entire office fell silent instantly.
Xiao Haifeng stood at the door, dressed in a crisp police uniform with prominent epaulets. His posture was as upright as a pine tree, and his eyes were as deep as a pool, exuding an aura of pressure from someone who had long held a high position.
Xu Wan, her face cold, quickly walked to Xiao Yunqing's side.
"Little Cloud, are you alright?" Xu Wan immediately hugged her daughter with heartache when she saw her daughter's red eyes.
"Mother."
Xiao Yunqing threw herself into her arms.
Xiao Haifeng strode in, his leather shoes clicking on the floor. His voice was steady yet carried an air of authority, each step feeling like it was pounding on people's hearts.
His gaze swept around, finally settling on Wang Hao's mother's hand holding the phone, and he spoke calmly:
"If we need to call the police, who should we call?"
Wang Hao's mother's hand froze. His gaze sent a chill down her spine, but she still forced a brave face: "My...my husband is a policeman! I'll have him come and arrest this brat who hit me!"
She became increasingly aggressive, her arrogance rising again. Pointing at Song Huan, she shouted, "No one can change anything today! My husband has a lot of influence at the police station! He must be taken away for a lesson!"
Xiao Haifeng's eyes suddenly turned cold. He took a step forward, and his aura directly forced Wang Hao's mother to take a half step back.
He stared at her, uttering three sharp, deliberate questions, his voice not loud, but each word like a hammer blow:
Who is your husband?
Wang Hao's mother retorted stubbornly, "It's none of your business! He's a policeman anyway!"
"Which department?" Xiao Haifeng pressed on relentlessly, his eyes sharp as knives, giving her no room to dodge.
"The police station... well, it's none of your business!"
"What's the badge number?"
When the third question was asked, Xiao Haifeng's gaze turned cold, carrying an undeniable air of authority. "Tell me the answer, and I can call him right now to verify it."
Wang Hao's mother froze, her eyes darting around, stammering, "I...I can't remember that thing..."
"Can't remember?" Xiao Haifeng sneered, refusing to waste any more words.
He raised his hand, pulled out his police ID from his breast pocket, and flipped it open with a "snap." The national emblem and ID information were facing Wang Hao's mother. His movements were swift, decisive, and exuded authority.
"Look carefully."
His voice was deep and powerful: "Xiao Haifeng, Deputy Director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. All police officers in this jurisdiction are under my command."
When Wang Hao's mother looked down at the words, her face turned deathly pale. She was stunned and didn't even notice her phone falling to the ground with a thud.
His previous arrogance vanished instantly, leaving him frozen in place, his lips trembling, unable to utter a single word.
Xiao Haifeng put away his identification, his gaze swept over Wang Hao, and then fell on the gauze on Xiao Yunqing's knee, his eyes growing even colder.
"Teacher Chen, tell me what happened."
The tone left no room for refusal.
Teacher Chen was so frightened that she quickly explained the whole story from beginning to end.
After listening, Xiao Haifeng looked at Wang Hao's mother, his tone icy cold:
"Your son pushed someone first, causing my daughter to get injured. Instead of disciplining your child, you immediately want to call the police and have him arrested? Who gave you that audacity?"
Wang Hao's mother turned pale and hurriedly explained, "The kids were just playing around..."
"Playing around?" Xiao Haifeng interrupted sharply, his aura overwhelming. "It's my daughter who's injured, and she's the one who's been bullied. Don't use being immature as an excuse in front of me."
He took a step forward, and Wang Hao's mother was so frightened that she retreated repeatedly.
"Didn't you want to arrest someone?" Xiao Haifeng's eyes sharpened. "Come on, arrest them. I want to see who can take them away from here today."
Wang Hao's mother's legs went weak, and she completely panicked: "I...I'm not...Director Xiao, I was wrong, I was confused for a moment..."
Xiao Haifeng was too lazy to watch her act; his gaze was cold and sharp.
"Go back and keep an eye on your son. If he bullies my daughter again, it won't be as simple as just a verbal reprimand."
He paused, his voice carrying an undeniable authority:
"Now, immediately, take your child and leave. Don't disrupt the school's order here."
Wang Hao's mother felt like she had been granted a pardon. She didn't even bother to pick up her phone. She grabbed Wang Hao and scrambled out of the office, not daring to look back.
Inside the office, Xiao Haifeng's coldness gradually subsided.
He crouched down, looked at Xiao Yunqing, and his tone softened instantly: "Does it still hurt?"
Xiao Yunqing shook her head.
He turned to look at Song Huan, remained silent for a few seconds, then suddenly raised his hand and ruffled Song Huan's hair, his voice carrying a hint of approval:
"Kid, you've got guts, well done."
Xu Wan looked at Song Huan, her eyes softening completely, and said softly, "Thank you for protecting Xiaoyunduo today."
Song Huan scratched his head: "Of course."
Xiao Haifeng and Xu Wan left.
Only Teacher Chen, Song Huan, and Xiao Yunqing remained in the office.
Teacher Chen looked at the two little ones and couldn't help but smile.
"Alright, you can go back now. Remember, if you need anything, go to the teacher. Don't fight, understand?"
Song Huan nodded and pulled Xiao Yunqing to stand up.
The two walked out hand in hand.
As they reached the door, Xiao Yunqing suddenly whispered, "Song Huan."
"Um?"
"Thank you."
Song Huan looked down at her.
She lowered her head, her face was a little red, but the corners of her mouth were turned up.
Song Huan smiled and squeezed her hand.
"Let's go back to the classroom."
……
The sun was still shining warmly on the playground.
Song Huan and Xiao Yunqing held hands and slowly walked back.
As they walked, Xiao Yunqing suddenly said, "That candy... is gone."
Song Huan was stunned for a moment, then realized that she was referring to the first prize strawberry gummies.
"It's okay," he said, "I'll win next time."
Xiao Yunqing looked up at him, her eyes bright.
"Let's win together next time."
Song Huan smiled.
"Okay, let's win together."
"By the way, does your mother call you Little Cloud?" Song Huan asked knowingly.
I think this name suits her perfectly and is also very cute.
Xiao Yunqing nodded, then smiled and said, "Yes, you can call me Little Cloud too!"
"Okay, little cloud."
