Chapter 1811 - 1810 - A Little Luck
Chapter 1811 - 1810 - A Little Luck
Lind put on a show. He felt annoyed about it as it was child’s play to level the entire Kingdom of Blades on a whim.
They were only a power thanks to the king being a Sovereign Tier. An Immortal power was nothing to him.
So the sneaking in and reveal was all a play on his part. There was no need for it on his end, but for Princess Bryth, it was needed. Her people needed to see it all.
He never imagined it would bring him an unexpected boon.
When he tore the roof away, he found Divine Realm cultivators! Further, he recognized the aura of their artifacts! They were only Apprentice Tiers, yet that was better than he could have hoped for!
They tried to self-destruct but he was easily able to lock down their internal energies.
Everything was then laid bare with evidence gathered both by his family and what was revealed by the hooded figures. The King of Blades tried to claim he had no choice but Lind’s Eyes could not be fooled.
Black karmic shadows flowed over the demon. He had done far more than was known!
The dungeon had been the real breaking point for the king. There were actual criminals but there was a secret floor and several people recognized them as family that went to apply for the Veridian Bone Sect.
They were emaciated and had clearly had horrific things done to them. There was no defense for any of it.
Any plea was no longer heard and Lind then turned to Princess Bryth.
[Your kingdom is in your hands. What is your decision?] His massive dragon body made the statement for all remaining doubters. Bryth was endorsed by him. Even other Master Tiers would not cross her at all!
Still, they had discussed many avenues to come after but ultimately, it was up to her. Lind was here for the Glass Palace remnants and any information on their headquarters.
The small demoness looked out from the wrecked castle to the crowds. Many children were cheering while the adults were a bit tense. It had been too fast.
There was not enough time for them to accept all that had happened. The few days could not allow them time to process it.
Still, speed was essential as the longer they took, the more news would spread to the other powers they had to gut.
Bryth knew that so she did not waste time.
"My family came to this place to continue our traditions. We survived the Final Fiend War unlike many others. I cannot speak to the ancestors as they were near the end of their days and died back then, but those that came after were afraid." Her words shook the crowd. Lind was surprised.
She had been asking him for any recording or slips about the Fiend War. She had not been alive during it so it was all history to her. He had obliged.
Now, he understood why. She seemed to grasp something.
"Despite the protection of the Veridian Bone Sect, at least 2 generations of Immortals died establishing our kingdom. Death became so easy even for Immortals that the King of Blades gave up his honor. He gave up whatever path my family walked and only wanted to live forever." Anger was in her voice and the evidence backed up her claims.
It seemed to strike a chord in the crowd. The initially tense atmosphere gave way to a rising tide of rage. Pieces had likely fallen into place for a few and others were just taking in the broad strokes but the result was the same.
He watched as Bryth declared the dissolution of the royal family and the nobles. Nearly half of them had been complicit or the King could not have pulled all of it off. She also explained that he would be taking care of the Veridian Bone Sect.
That was actually already done. Shoti and Qing had volunteered and he dared not stand in their way. He would rather face the Bastard all over again than stop them!
Fey had also taken on the larger task of eviscerating the other powers. Even as Bryth spoke, word could not spread fast enough. It was already too late.
The now former princess made one last declaration.
"The Kingdom of Blades still exists because you all do. As my final act, I designate a tournament to decide the ruling council. Experts in weapons are not enough to rule, yet to reach the point you cannot be defeated means you grasp many aspects. They must be at least a Crystal Tier to qualify and Arts or conjuring are not allowed. Only the power of the body and the mind are tested." Lind had to strongly resist rolling his eyes.
Of course a demonic power would cheer that on!
He sighed internally as it was not his country. He let it go. Bryth then bowed low and smiled at the crowd. They now all roared for her and it seemed it was safe for the moment.
His aura never stopped scanning yet he found no dangers. There were no secret meetings either which was another stroke of luck.
They might possess the presence of mind to wait until he was gone but he sneered if they thought that would be enough.
In the commotion of the last 2 days, his people had infiltrated the kingdom. If anyone connected to the atrocities was detected, they would find out just how merciless he could be!
[What will you do now?] He asked her alone and she blushed a bit as it seemed she had been lost in the moment. She looked up at him and a smile free of worry crossed her face.
[I will travel with Shatterheart. She insists she won’t leave me and I want to see more of the world. I will make sure my mother is honored, however.] He nodded and then with a snort a commotion was heard somewhere deep in the castle.
A casket marked with various inscriptions to seal and preserve the corpse inside was revealed. Just how low could the King of Blades go?
Lind wiped them away with ease and made sure there were no surprises in the body.
He then gently placed it on the ground. Bryth looked up at him before his massive maw opened and emerald flames covered it. The dark stone was transmuted into a crystalline form. The body was still youthful but left cut apart.
He put it back together and made her look as neat as he could. Once he was done he stepped back.
[I found her on arrival but wanted to wait until you were free. She fought for the people and the future. She should be remembered.] His actions and transmission went out to all.
The cheering crowd was now silent but universally bowed their heads in respect. Bryth began to cry and Shatterheart was not far behind her.
The former Queen clearly meant a lot to many and now that her honor was restored, she would be remembered properly.
Lind made no mention of what the casket was originally for. He did not want to stain their hearts with that kind of darkness.
He closed his eyes and reached out to Fey.
[Check for caskets buried in places of power. They were setting up bodies for possession as well.]
It was clear if they could not extend their lives in their original bodies, or preferred a younger one, they truly knew no bounds or limits. An Immortal body could be repaired and preserved indefinitely so long as the proper steps were taken.
It would be resource intensive as time passed, but if the goal was to be ready to possess it, it was unlikely they would be kept for too long.
Fey informed him that answered some questions for her and he could feel her anger. He truly pitied anyone that crossed her now.
Death would be a release from whatever she was about to do. Lind was the only one that caught their true targets thus far. The sect was holding out but the elders and grand elders had tried to flee.
Shoti had been waiting with Ethry right beside her. He had no doubt those men and women were begging to be killed too.
A runaway princess from an Immortal power had revealed a dark mountain. Lind felt it. Another facet was getting clearer. He frowned as it seemed too perfect but perhaps it was simply he was seeking things out.
He was seeking a way forward so he was gravitating to things that would give him answers. His harmony was terrifying if that was so. The Mystery of Defiance seemed to bend the rules just as it broke them too.
He spent a few months helping Bryth clean up as he coordinated with his forces. They had not had a perfect execution but better than expected.
The fall of the Kingdom of Blades had spread in less than a week but by then, so had the entire Veridian Bone Sect territory. Only then was all revealed to the Master Tiers. Once revealed, a massive move to scour the Divine Lands followed.
Lind had known it would not get what he wanted. They found traces and some signs, but nothing definitive.
Not until he finally broke his prisoners and the true scale of the horror was revealed.
The Glass Palace had been experimenting for millions of years trying to replicate Fiend techniques. They all failed until the Bastard died. It seemed something about the existence of Fiends prevented imitation.
Lind suspected the Bastard did not want anyone stealing from him. He likely broke some specific rule regarding souls and lifeforce related to his plans.
No one would know for sure but with the death of the Bastard, the damage healed, the Celestials returned in massive numbers, and vile experiments began to finally show results.
Experts from those areas were kept far away from the main headquarters. When it fell, they had resources, vile techniques, and a plan to become a new power in the shadows.
The Final Fiend War made perfect cover as they dove down into the lower worlds. They had no fixed place either, not yet anyway. They were instead building connections and setting up routes to move products secretly!
Now that they were exposed, they would likely scatter and the lower worlds would find it very hard to track them as far too many had harsh powers where massive numbers of people died without comment.
Lind sent orders down to his own mortal realm beginnings.
{Find the Glass Palace remnants and exterminate them all! Destroy everything they have discovered!}
