Chapter 147 Jaya Island, another encounter with Blackbeard!
Picking up where we left off, after encountering the ship that fell from the sky, Luffy and his crew planned to go up into the sky to find the island floating in the air. The Straw Hat crew, intending to obtain useful information from the shipwreck, were attacked by some mysterious ape-men. After getting rid of them, the Straw Hat crew began to take stock of the items they had salvaged from the shipwreck.
Opening the salvaged items, besides some bottles and jars, there were some broken weapons and a knight's armor, the size of which fit Luffy perfectly. Nami, seeing this, said helplessly, "It's all useless stuff. It seems there's little hope for Skypiea..."
Upon hearing this, Luffy immediately exclaimed in surprise, "What did you say? We can't go to Skypiea anymore!"
Nami said definitively, "There's nothing we can do about it. After all, we're not even sure if there are any Sky Islands left. We'd better just keep looking for new islands..."
Upon hearing this, Luffy immediately objected, stating firmly, "I've already decided that I absolutely must go to the island in the sky, so we can't change our goal until we reach the sky island!"
Just as Nami was fretting over this, Goten noticed something had fallen off the ship—it seemed to be the Perpetual Position that the ape-man had dropped. Suddenly, Goten remembered something and exclaimed, "That's it! Why don't we just ask someone who knows anything about Skypiea? There should be someone on one of the nearby islands who knows anything about Skypiea..."
As he spoke, Goten picked up the ape-man's Perpetual Pole and said to Luffy, "Luffy, let's go to the next island and look for new clues. Maybe we can find news about Skypiea. Anyway, there's no point in wandering around here now, is there?"
Upon hearing this, Luffy immediately asked, "So, what's the next island...?"
Robin then spoke up, "According to what the ape-man's crew said, their permanent pointer is pointing to an island called Jaya Island."
Upon hearing this, Luffy immediately shouted, "Alright then, let's head towards Jaya Island!"
-
Upon arriving at one side of Gaya Island, the Straw Hat crew discovered that there was practically no law and order to speak of. Everywhere they looked, there were thugs fighting and brawling, and every second someone was screaming in pain and bleeding...
This is Magic Valley Town, a place shrouded in darkness. The streets are narrow and filthy, the air thick with the stench of decay. Groups of petty thugs wander aimlessly through the streets and alleys.
They were dressed in outlandish clothes, their hair dyed in various colors, and their faces wore expressions of provocation and disdain. Their eyes were cold and fierce, as if they were ready to pounce on anyone who dared to challenge them.
In Magic Valley, law and order have vanished. Thugs commit all sorts of crimes; robbery, fighting, and extortion are commonplace for them. They ruthlessly bully the weak, steal from others, and even violently attack innocent people.
Shop owners lived in constant fear, terrified their shops would become the next target of thugs. Residents dared not venture out, fearing misfortune. The entire town of Mogu was plunged into chaos and terror.
As soon as they reached the shore, Luffy and Zoro disembarked without hesitation. Nami immediately stopped them, knowing that letting them set off alone would have serious consequences. So Nami told Goten to follow Luffy and Zoro to avoid any unnecessary collisions.
Seeing this, Goten had no choice but to go with Luffy and Zoro to gather information in Nami's place. The three arrived at a luxurious hotel, but were stopped at the door because they had no money. To make matters worse, a blue-haired thug with a beautiful woman came over at that moment, disdainfully threw down some money, and told the three to get lost.
Seeing this, Luffy actually bent down to pick up the money, only to be stopped by Goten with a punch. Goten scolded, "Idiot, this isn't for you. Let's go." He then forcibly dragged Luffy away...
After moving to a tavern that they could barely afford, Goten had barely sat down at the counter when Luffy, who had ordered a cherry pie, took a bite and immediately shouted, "Boss, this cherry pie is awful!"
However, another voice chimed in, "Boss, this cherry pie is delicious!"
Upon hearing this, Luffy and his companions turned around and saw Goten exclaiming, "Ah! Blackbeard, you're here! I already know about you killing your crewmates. I never expected to run into you, you bastard, here by such a coincidence!"
Blackbeard, upon hearing Goten's words, retorted irritably, "What's wrong, kid? When did we meet? I don't remember!"
Upon seeing this, Goten immediately transformed into a Super Saiyan. Blackbeard, recalling his past defeat, decided to engage in battle. He then looked at Luffy, who was wearing a straw hat, his eyes filled with murderous intent...
Zoro was surprised to hear that the person in front of him was Blackbeard, but Luffy didn't seem to remember him. It was Goten who reminded Luffy: "Luffy, have you forgotten? Your brother Ace went to Alabasta alone to capture this bastard, didn't he?"
After Goten's reminder, Luffy finally realized what was going on. Blackbeard, upon hearing that Luffy was Ace's brother, also became interested and asked, "Ace's brother, I see. Straw Hat, how much bounty do you have now?"
Goten immediately retorted, "One hundred million Berries, Zoro has sixty-four million Berries, and I have fifty million Berries. What? You don't actually want our heads, do you? If you dare to lay a hand on me, believe me, I'll show you what nightmares are all about!"
The people in the tavern were so frightened by Goten's revelation of the three men's bounties that they dared not utter a sound, fearing they would be implicated. Blackbeard, upon hearing the bounties, immediately burst into laughter, slammed his fist on the table, and shouted, "Just what I wanted! Let's start the battle!"
Seeing that a battle between pirates worth one hundred million was about to break out, the thugs in the tavern all fled in panic. Goten, seeing this, didn't hesitate and immediately said threateningly, "I'll give you some time to call your friends. After all, we don't want to be seen as ganging up on the weak..."
Upon hearing this, Blackbeard immediately laughed and left, leaving the battle to take place 500 meters outside of Mako Town. Before leaving, he gave Goten and the others a taunting thumbs-down.
Seeing this, Goten disregarded the Sky Island and immediately called Luffy and Zoro to leave, while notifying the rest of the Straw Hat crew to prepare for battle. However, before they even stepped out the door, they were blocked by the blue-haired man from before and a tall man named Bellamy.
Before Luffy and his companions could even speak, the blue-haired man mocked them again: "What? Aren't these the three penniless bastards from before? Get out of the way, get out of the way, don't block Bellamy's path!"
Upon hearing this, Goten and his two companions instantly flew into a rage, shouting in unison, "You're the ones blocking our way!" They then unleashed their combined attack, "Rubber Thirty-Six Impact Rocket Rage Wave," instantly wiping out the group of fodder. They left behind the words, "Sorry, but who told you to provoke us at a time like this? Be careful next time..." before heading back towards the Going Merry.
