Chapter 4 Young Hero Luo's First Experience in the Martial World
Chapter 4 Young Hero Luo's First Experience in the Martial World
"Since Young Master Duan has no interest in martial arts, I will not force him. Let's leave it at that." Luo Su pointed in a direction and said to Duan Yu, "Twenty miles from here is Shanren Ferry, and beyond Shanren Ferry is Wanjie Valley. Young Master Duan, you may go there yourself."
"Thank you, Young Master Luo." Duan Yu was both happy and worried upon hearing this. He was happy that he had finally found a way out, but worried that the man surnamed Duan would not have a good death if he entered the valley.
But no matter what, the journey still needs to be continued. Zhong Ling is still under Shennong's control. At worst, we can grit our teeth and simply not reveal our surname as Duan.
By the way, he's not surnamed Duan. Isn't there someone whose surname isn't Duan?
Duan Yu turned around, looked at Russell with pleading eyes, and grinned obsequiously, "Hehehe, Young Master Luo..."
Russell narrowed his eyes: "What do you want?"
Duan Yu: "(◕ᴗ◕)"
Russell: "(¬_¬)"
……
A day later, in a dense forest, Duan Yu led the way while Russell followed behind, observing the surroundings.
Russell followed Duan Yu here, partly because Duan Yu pleaded desperately, and partly because he wanted to see if he could trigger a new lottery when he met Zhong Wanchou and Gan Baobao.
"Found it!" After walking for about half an hour, Duan Yu suddenly stopped in a slightly open clearing in the woods, his face beaming with joy.
In front of them stood nine exceptionally tall pine trees growing side by side, resembling a verdant city wall.
Duan Yu strode forward, went around to the fourth pine tree from the right, parted a patch of dense grass and vines, pulled open a door panel from the tree hole, revealing the steps below.
"Young Master Luo, I'm leaving the rest to you." Duan Yu approached Russell with a fawning smile, clasped his hands together, and bowed to Russell.
"Does this count as me meddling in your family affairs, Young Master Duan?" Russell glanced at the cave entrance, then at Duan Yu, and couldn't help but tease him.
When asking someone for a favor, one should naturally have the right attitude. Since Duan Yu was asking Russell for a favor, he had already told Russell everything about his background and his father Duan Zhengchun's long and complicated romantic history.
"Oh dear, Young Master Luo, please stop talking." Duan Yu covered his face in shame. He was helpless because his father was seducing respectable women everywhere.
Russell laughed and stopped teasing him, then crouched down and crawled into the entrance under the tree hole.
Beneath his feet were roughly carved stone steps, damp and cold. He descended the steps, and after about ten steps, the steps turned right, leading him through a narrow passage for several feet before suddenly turning upwards again. After ascending about thirty steps in this manner, the view suddenly opened up, and he had reached level ground.
A wide meadow stretched out before us, ending in a dense, ancient pine forest. Beyond the meadow, an exceptionally thick pine tree came into view. A large patch of bark had been peeled from its trunk, revealing wood painted white, on which nine striking characters were written in vermilion:
Anyone with the surname Duan who enters this valley will be killed without mercy.
Following Duan Yu's instructions, he found a small iron hammer in the tree, picked it up, and struck the inscription. The hammer struck down with a clang, and after striking it three times, he heard a joyful girl's voice from behind the pine tree: "Miss is back!"
Russell put down the hammer and said, "Miss Zhong has encountered an accident and asked me to come and pay my respects to the Valley Master."
The girl exclaimed in surprise, "Are you an outsider? What happened to my young lady?"
"Yeah, he got caught for committing a crime. If no one comes to rescue him soon, he's probably going to die," Russell said seriously.
"What!" The girl exclaimed in alarm, and hurried away. After a moment, she returned, opened the iron gate, and came out of the valley. She said to Russell, "Madam invites you in, young master."
Russell nodded.
The maid led him through a grove of trees, along a path to the left, until they arrived at a tiled house. A woman with delicate features and a charming demeanor was already waiting there.
Unfortunately, there was no system notification, so it seems that not all story characters can trigger the lottery.
While Russell was still secretly lamenting, Gan Baobao on the other side had already raised her eyebrows, her originally gentle face covered with a layer of frost, and she said sharply, "So you're the thief who kidnapped my girl?"
"?"
Russell slowly typed a question mark: Why would you have such an idea?
Does the messenger equal the kidnapper?
"Misunderstand."
And so on, and so forth.
After Russell explained the whole story, Gan Baobao's anger was gradually replaced by embarrassment. She curtsied and softened her tone, saying apologetically, "Please forgive me, Young Master Luo. I was just too eager to protect my daughter, and that's why I lost my composure for a moment."
"It's nothing," Russell waved his hand, not caring at all. "Now that the letter has been delivered and friends are waiting outside the valley, I'll take my leave."
"This humble servant will see you off, young master." Gan Baobao gracefully rose to see him off.
Before the two could even step out of the room, a hurried voice rang out from outside: "Baby! I heard some little bastard kidnapped Ling'er? Where is he! I'll chop him up!"
"Oh no!" Gan Baobao's expression changed drastically. Hearing that sound, she knew something was wrong.
With a loud bang, the door was kicked open with tremendous force, and an extremely ugly man rushed in, carrying a knife and exuding murderous intent. He saw Russell at a glance, and without waiting for Gan Baobao to speak, he raised his knife and began to slash.
"You little bastard, prepare to die!"
Your mom!
Russell was so angry he almost laughed. Were all these people idiots?
Even a clay figure has some temper; this guy comes to deliver a message and acts like he's going to fight. Does he really think I'm afraid of him?
The character card was poised to strike. Russell moved his feet and advanced instead of retreating, his figure flashing out and striking Zhong Wanchou in the chest with a palm.
"Bang!"
A muffled thud.
Zhong Wanchou couldn't dodge in time and was struck on the soft armor of his chest by a palm. He felt a strong force penetrate his body, his chest tightened, his blood surged, and his burly body was uncontrollably thrown backward, crashing out of the room. He stumbled back several steps until his back hit a cassia tree in the courtyard, barely stopping him. His cleaver slipped from his hand.
Russell shook his slightly numb hand, but felt much more at ease.
He was always fond of fighting. Before he transmigrated, he relied on his tall stature and strong physique to fight people head-on in the arena quite a few times.
This palm strike allowed him to roughly gauge the difference in strength between himself and Zhong Wanchou, confirming that it was a level he could handle.
"Misunderstanding! It's all a misunderstanding!" Gan Baobao hurriedly said, but Zhong Wanchou was not good at thinking to begin with. At this moment, he was slapped back by a young man in front of his wife. He was filled with shame and anger and his emotions were running high. He had no rationality left.
"You little bastard!" Swallowing the metallic taste rising in his throat, Zhong Wanchou cursed angrily and was about to continue his attack.
But Russell was faster. Using the Zhouyou Liuxu footwork, he closed in and elbowed Russell at Russell's horse-like face.
