With that thought in mind, Saint Karina immediately began to act.
"Wrath of Heavenly Thunder!"
A purple light shone in her hand, followed by a thicker and larger bolt of purple lightning.
Saint Karina wasn't even worried that her actions might break the magical barrier and destroy the ship.
Seeing that Saint Karina was no longer under the control of her song and even attacked her again without a word, with magical power even more terrifying than before, the Siren panicked. Without hesitation, she turned around, intending to jump back into the sea.
"Snapped!"
Saint Karina's lightning was fast, but the Sirens were even faster.
Her body was about to fall into the sea.
"The art of activating ropes!"
Saint Karina had already prepared a trap, ready to ensnare her opponent.
This is a type of arcane magic, usually used only as a support spell, but it often has surprising effects when used unexpectedly.
The siren tried to enter the water, but its neck was caught in a noose.
"what!"
She bared her teeth, revealing grim, blood-stained flesh beneath, threatening Saint Karina.
"Wind Blade!"
Saint Karina didn't hold back either, and directly slashed out with a cyan light blade.
From the rope, the siren was separated into a head and a body, forming two parts.
"Grip of the Void!"
Instead of grabbing it rashly with her hands, Saint Karina conjured a huge shadow claw and reached for the Siren's head.
The enormous, demonic claws, in stark contrast to the exquisite beauty held within, made it seem as if Saint Karina was the villain, and the Sirens were princesses captured by the devil. Her beauty was indeed more refined than the princess's, as if she were a gift from heaven, a darling of the world.
“I’ll ask you questions, and you’ll answer. I’ll give you a chance to live. A sea monster like you can’t be without mind. Tell me the location of Dragon Island where the Demon Dragon is imprisoned, and I’ll let you go. You can refuse to answer, or say you don’t know, but I will kill you immediately.”
The siren's body was already trapped in a barrel shimmering with pure white, purifying holy light.
That's right, it's shaped like the buckets fishermen use to carry seafood, not cages. This is probably to prevent gaps, as the siren's terrifying body could easily separate its own flesh and blood and escape through the gaps in a cage. But a bare bucket is different; it has a lid, and when closed, it seals perfectly.
At the same time, it was also Saint Karina's perverse sense of humor. Separating this angelic face from her alluring body, the interrogation continued, bleeding and attempting to heal, the blood dripping down, only to be evaporated into powder by the power of nothingness, and not a drop of blood fell onto the deck.
The siren's body is like a piece of seafood, cramped and no different from other fish. It lacks the most basic intelligence that a living being should have. It is confined in a small space where it cannot even turn over. It can only stay in the barrel with its waist and neck constricted.
"My patience is limited, and you are not immortal. It's just that your body has a strong healing ability, and I have far too many ways to deal with you."
270. Another Dimension
"Actually, it's quite simple. Dragon Island doesn't exist in this world. Or rather, it's in the Sea of Despair, but in another dimension."
In a parallel world, I never imagined that finding that island would be so complicated.
The Sirens are both guides and scourges in the Sea of Despair. They know most of the sea's secrets, yet are beings countless ships dread encountering.
Most people don't possess the ability or treasures to resist mental magic.
In order to survive, the sirens revealed the truth without any concealment.
"It's very simple. As long as the heavens and earth turn upside down, the horizon is reversed, and then the cycle repeats itself, you will be able to reach another dimension."
"speak English."
I hate riddle tellers the most.
"You have to blow up the ship and turn it over."
Bombing the ship... St. Karina didn't quite believe it.
Could it be that this siren wants to take revenge on them? After all, they only revealed this information when they were threatened.
“I absolutely did not deceive you. My life is still in your hands. I have no reason to tell false information that would harm myself.”
Seeing the suspicious look in Saint Karina's eyes, the Sirens quickly tried to prove their innocence.
“We Sirens have witnessed real-life examples before, though there were only a few. When those people completely capsized their boats, the seawater flew into the sky, and then the sky filled up and became the ocean again. It’s like a crystal ball; if you flip it over, the water and fish inside the crystal ball won’t change. The fish won’t even realize that the ball has been flipped, but the people outside the ball will know that the ball has changed direction.”
This explanation is very convincing.
However, Santa Karina felt that blowing up the ship was unnecessary.
"There's no need to use explosions to flip the ship over; I can solve it with magic."
So, Saint Karina directed them to enter the water first, then throw in the bucket containing the part of the Sirens' bodies, and then she herself jumped into the water.
She used magic to flip the boat over in the water, turning it upside down. Then she watched as the boat sank straight down.
They waited quietly in the water for a few minutes. The mermaid demon sirens were all fine, except for Melissa, who was a bit bad at swimming.
After the third minute, the sea suddenly began to churn. The water surged and rolled, the waves billowing into the sky like waterspouts. It was as if an unseen hand of God had turned the world upside down.
Soon, somehow, terrifying waterspouts appeared everywhere, drawing all the seawater into the sky, while the seawater remained in place, maintaining its original posture.
The scene was utterly absurd, beyond absurdity, and they witnessed something they had never seen before in their lives. The sky was filled with seawater, but some force prevented it from falling, while the ground beneath them, having been drained of the seawater, formed a terrifying abyss, like an insurmountable chasm.
Then, the abyss, shrouded in mist, began to reveal the sun and clouds. Saint Karina and the others were slammed heavily into the water above them.
"thump--"
My body slammed heavily into the water, and the splashing water stung a little.
Their boat reappeared on the sea not far away.
So, Saint Karina used magic to lift the group up and put them back onto the ship.
She neither released nor killed the siren. Instead, she put its head in a bucket, separating it from its body, and locked them in separate buckets.
"Ugh! You're not keeping your word!"
Before its head was shut, the siren struggled to shout and curse.
Saint Karina, of course, ignored it. She was a woman of her word; otherwise, she could have easily achieved her goal by simply killing the siren who had taken countless lives and also wanted to take theirs.
However, there was another reason for keeping the other person alive: she didn't know what else she might encounter in this sea area, and she needed to keep the other person alive to extract information.
If the Sirens are no longer useful, it doesn't matter if we kill them.
However, if she is obedient enough, Saint Karina will spare her life once she has finished her business.
In fact, since arriving in this parallel dimension, the ship has not moved again, the sun has only risen briefly, and the sea breeze still smells salty and damp, but carries an unsettling and painful undercurrent.
An ominous atmosphere filled the air, like the prelude to a storm or the eve of a great battle.
The sky was overcast with dark clouds, and it looked like a heavy rain was imminent.
It is dangerous to have rain at sea, as storms can capsize ships at any time if the waves are big enough.
In fact, the sea, shrouded in a somber and oppressive atmosphere, was already brewing an even more dangerous aura. The waves were turbulent, no longer the beautiful azure blue, but possessing a deathly quality. It was a murky gray, with gray-blue waves crashing violently against the ships.
It's as if the ship has been hijacked or kidnapped by some force and is being driven in a certain direction.
"Hey, I want to know, what's wrong with our ship?"
Saint Karina patted the barrel and asked the sirens inside.
"Humph."
The siren turned her head away, gave a cold snort, and refused to answer.
I don't know how she managed to do such a difficult move, especially since her wound was still bleeding and both buckets had turned into a sea of blood.
"Ask me if you have any questions, and show no mercy when you lock me up. Is that your integrity, human?"
"I'm already being generous to a siren who wants to kill me. Just tell me the information, and I promise I'll release you once I find the place."
The Sirens have their own tribe, and in such an unfamiliar place, Saint Karina cannot possibly let them go. That would be tantamount to releasing a tiger back into the mountains, leaving behind a hidden danger.
After all, Saint Karina's methods towards the Sirens were hardly merciful. The Sirens' submissive behavior was only because they couldn't do anything to her. If she found an opportunity, Saint Karina believed that the siren would definitely kill them.
“If you refuse to talk, I’ll kill you. You’re no longer of any use anyway. Honesty is for friends, and you tried to kill us before. I promise you, if you listen to me and answer all my questions, I will let you go after we get to the island.”
Saint Karina, like a child being lured, patiently and persuasively manipulated the Sirens, then issued an empty promise.
However, the other party had no choice but to fall into the trap. Because her life was in Saint Karina's hands, she could not resist and could only accept the conditions.
"I hope you won't lie to me this time."
"I didn't lie to you. My previous condition was not to kill you, but this time I said I'd let you go. Right?"
"Right."
The siren pondered, and it seemed that Saint Karina had indeed not deceived her.
She was very anxious beforehand, and knowing that the other party wouldn't kill her, she agreed.
Well then, after pointing out the direction to these plague gods, she would never come back and would leave this place directly, the siren thought, and thus gave her answer.
"We're very close to the island you're looking for, but there's a terrifying sea beast here. It's dangerous, and the area around Dragon Island is full of whirlpools, with a no-fly zone in the sky. The only way to break through is to kill that sea beast."
271. The Monster Beneath the Whirlpool
"So we're almost there?"
"Yes, it's very close. Look, there's thick fog all around now, and the whirlpool is hidden in the fog. You can't see it with your eyes, but if you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of the sea."
Saint Karina knew that the Sirens' ears were better than their eyes; even though she couldn't see, she could hear the sounds of the ocean.
Without a doubt, she closed her eyes and used a magic spell to enhance her hearing to listen to the various sounds in the ocean.
It was the sound of rushing water… very fast, very terrifying. An unknown power was brewing in the whirlpool, and although the whirlpool was still some distance from the ship, Saint Karina could sense that terrifying power.
It is chuckling, as if mocking the overestimation of those who dare to confront its might.
However, Saint Karina knew that the vortex had not developed sentience. That laughter must have been the sound of another ocean creature hidden within the vortex.
That was the sound of a sea monster.
Just as the Sirens said, there is a terrifying sea beast lurking in the seabed, and that thing is an eighth-order creature.
And most importantly, the opponent is a sea monster, and this sea area, the ocean, is its home ground.
"What? Are you scared?"
"Of course not, it's two major classes below me. It's too early to think it can scare me with something like this."
If the Irazo dragon could frighten Saint Karina, she would have died countless times already.
"Very well, you better not disappoint me. I'm still on your ship. If you perish in that giant's belly, I'll go down with you."
Then they stopped talking.
Only Saint Karina can deal with this Irazo dragon alone; the others on the ship are not at that level of strength.
After defeating the monster, their ship will arrive at Dragon Island in just ten minutes.
"You wait for me on the ship, I'll come over myself."
Saint Karina left them in a safe place and went directly there herself.
She stepped onto the sea, and instantly a thick layer of ice formed. Then...
Saint Karina could sense that the monster was lurking beneath the vortex in front of her.
The whirlpool was enormous, its center a terrifying, leaden black. The water within swirled and churned rapidly, resembling a bottomless black hole.
Reefs and various debris swirled in the whirlpool, but they still couldn't quell the resentment within it.
It possesses overwhelming destructive power, especially on this vast ocean. But clearly, it is not satisfied.
Saint Karina could sense that the monster wanted to drag their boat over there; their little boat would make a decent snack.
Just how many ships did this sea monster swallow and how many lives did it take?
Over the centuries, countless ships must have sunk to the bottom of the sea, their wooden wreckage rotting away, their treasures exposed, while their crews have long since perished.
Saint Karina must deal with the monster before the ship is wrecked.
In fact, as Saint Karina approached, the center of the vortex seemed to split open, and a colossal creature emerged from within.
The monster had a very long neck, but its body was enormous. The moment it emerged from the water, it seemed as if dark clouds were pressing down and obscuring the sky.
