Chapter 20 Promise
Chapter 20 Promise
Su Xiaoya was still taking a shower; the sound of running water and the faint scent of soap wafted from the bathroom.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped ten minutes later.
As the doorknob turned, steaming hot water vapor rushed out first, followed by a petite figure moving somewhat awkwardly out of the bathroom.
Su Xiaoya has finished taking a shower.
She had clearly wiped herself carefully, but tiny water droplets still clung to the ends of her hair, her long, wet black hair cascading over her shoulders.
The steam gave her cheeks and neck a faint pink hue, making her look delicate and adorable.
Su Xiaoya was still only wearing Lin Yu's white shirt, the fabric slightly damp from the steam.
A few drops of water still clung to her legs, slowly sliding down her smooth skin.
"I'm all done washing! It feels so good~" Su Xiaoya looked up at Lin Yu, the water droplets from her wet hair splashing onto the back of Lin Yu's hand as she moved.
Lin Yu nodded, his gaze sweeping over her still dripping hair: "Why didn't you dry your hair?"
"I...I forgot." Su Xiaoya stuck out her tongue shyly, looking adorably naive.
She appreciated Lin Yu's concern and instinctively wanted to get closer.
Lin Yu got up and grabbed a relatively clean old towel. He came back and covered Su Xiaoya's head with it. His movements weren't particularly gentle, but he carefully rubbed and dried her hair.
Su Xiaoya stood obediently and let Lin Yu wipe her.
It only occasionally makes a soft whimpering sound when it is being rubbed with a towel.
She tilted her head slightly, her eyelashes glistening with moisture, and her shirt collar slightly open.
Lin Yu quickly looked away and focused on his hands.
This girl probably doesn't even realize it herself, or rather, in her heart, Lin Yu is the brother who saved her from danger and gave her safety and food.
They are people you can completely trust and be close to; you would never think of needing to be wary of them.
Moreover, Lin Yu himself possesses a calm and reliable temperament.
It has a natural attraction for Su Xiaoya, an 18-year-old girl who is just beginning to experience love and is still naive.
Just like all of you readers.
"Brother, are you leaving soon?" Su Xiaoya suddenly asked softly, interrupting Lin Yu's thoughts.
"Yeah, I had to take care of something." Lin Yu mumbled, taking off the half-damp towel.
"Sit down." Lin Yu pointed to the old wooden stool next to him.
Su Xiaoya obediently sat down, put her legs together, and placed her small hands on her knees.
Lin Yu pulled up another chair and sat opposite Su Xiaoya, looking at her calmly:
"Xiaoya, listen. Your brother has very important things to do tonight and tomorrow."
"It's all done. I'll bring your sister to pick you up first thing the day after tomorrow."
"Really? Brother Lin Yu and Sister Lin Yu are here to pick up Xiaoya?"
"Really." Lin Yu nodded.
"But before that, you must do as I said before. You absolutely, absolutely cannot go out, and you cannot open the door for anyone, no matter what sounds you hear or what movements you see."
We still have enough food and water to last until the day after tomorrow. Can you manage that?
Su Xiaoya nodded earnestly: "Yes! I definitely can! I'll stay here and wait for my brother and sister!"
She paused, then added softly, "Brother...you have to be careful too."
"I know, don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Lin Yu reached out and patted Su Xiaoya's head.
Su Xiaoya felt the warmth coming from above her head and comfortably squinted her eyes.
She then leaned forward, wrapped her arms around Lin Yu's waist, and rested her face against his firm chest.
"Brother, thank you for saving me... You are the best person ever."
.....
He sat with Su Xiaoya for a while longer, briefly asking her about her situation these past few days while she was alone, and confirmed that there were no other abnormalities.
Lin Yu got up and walked towards the door.
"Xiaoya, your brother is leaving."
Su Xiaoya's eyes flashed with reluctance, but she also knew that Lin Yu had important business to attend to.
She stood up and followed Lin Yu to the stairwell.
"Remember what I said," Lin Yu finally instructed.
"Mmm!" Su Xiaoya nodded vigorously, standing at the bottom of the stairs looking up at Lin Yu, her small hands nervously twisting the hem of her shirt.
"Brother...you must come the day after tomorrow, I don't want to be alone anymore..."
"must."
......
When Lin Yu returned to Su Wan's apartment, it was already late at night. The bedroom door was ajar, and he could hear Su Wan's slightly hurried footsteps inside.
Lin Yu raised an eyebrow, and as he closed the door, Su Wan's voice came from the bedroom: "Lin Yu?"
Immediately afterward, footsteps sounded, and Lin Yu saw Su Wan running over and hugging him with a worried expression.
"Where did you go? I couldn't find you when I woke up..." Su Wan said softly, her tone filled with anxiety.
Lin Yu did not tell her when he went out, and it's normal for her to be worried during this special time.
"I took care of some things." Lin Yu let Su Wan pull him along, without explaining the details, and simply put his arm around her waist and sat down on the sofa.
Then a thought occurred to him.
The air above his right palm distorted slightly, and a long, silver-white sword appeared in his hand.
The Devouring Love Sword absorbed Lin Yu's heart's blood, so even if Lin Yu wanted to contain it, he couldn't. It's better to give it to Su Wan, since it was originally prepared by Lin Yu for her.
Upon seeing the familiar longsword, Su Wan covered her mouth in surprise.
She was certain that this was the Love-Devouring Sword, and in a perfectly activated state.
Su Wan suddenly looked up at Lin Yu, her lips trembling slightly as if she wanted to say something, but no sound came out.
Countless thoughts flashed through her mind—
How did Lin Yu do it? What price did he pay?
Su Wan couldn't help but speculate that Lin Yu might have the ability to resurrect, or perhaps a forbidden ability that could negate fatal damage.
She had heard of this ability, but without exception, it required paying an unimaginable price.
It could be lifespan, it could be the soul, it could be some kind of permanent damage.
Lin Yu...
Su Wan's gaze involuntarily fell on Lin Yu's chest.
The overwhelming heartache and guilt instantly broke down Su Wan's psychological defenses.
Her nose tingled, and tears rolled down her cheeks without warning.
Immediately afterward, Su Wan wiped away her tears and carefully began to unbutton Lin Yu's shirt.
Although she couldn't see the wound, Su Wan couldn't help but ask, "Does it hurt?"
But the next second she shook her head, then suddenly threw herself into Lin Yu's arms, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck:
"I'm sorry, Lin Yu... I'm so sorry..." Su Wan sobbed uncontrollably.
"It's all for me... You must have paid a heavy price, right?... "
Lin Yu raised an eyebrow, unsure how to explain to Su Wan, so he simply raised his hand and gently patted her back, saying:
"It's okay, it's all worth it for you."
These words made Su Wan cry even harder; she never expected Lin Yu to love her so much.
"Alright, stop crying. Now, put the sword away."
"I...I can't help it...Waaaaah..."
After crying for a long time, Su Wan's emotions gradually calmed down. She let go of her hands, sat up straight, and wiped the tears off her face haphazardly with the back of her hand.
His eyes and nose were red, but his gaze became unusually firm.
She looked at the Love-Devouring Sword that Lin Yu had placed on the coffee table, took a deep breath, and gripped it firmly in her hand.
"Honey, thank you. I'll use this sword well."
Lin Yu patted Su Wan's head:
"Why did you suddenly change your tune?"
Su Wan sniffed:
"Haven't I called you enough? But this time is different... I want to stay with you forever."
We can talk about containment later. Right now, I'm more interested in—"
With that, Su Wan turned and ran towards the bedroom. A minute later, she came out holding a brand new pair of black stockings.
"Are you tired? Let me give you a massage~"
